Jagz4Life's Game Preview
Jacksonville Jaguars (4-3) vs Houston Texans (1-6)
Location: Alltel Stadium, Jacksonville, Florida
Date: Sunday, November 6, 2005 1:00 PM ET
Key Matchup: RB Fred Taylor (JAX) vs RB Domanick Davis (HOU)
The Jaguars will win if:
1. The run defense steps up. Yes, the Jaguars have been getting a good pass rush, and the secondary has been successful, however, everyone has run all over the Jaguars. The Texans offensive line isn't the best, but Domanick Davis will be the Texans go-to guy on offense.
2. Get Fred Taylor the ball. The Rams have given up 150 yards rushing in the past three games. The Jaguars want to make it 4. After a big day rushing last week, Fred Taylor is not on the Jaguars injury report this Wednesday, and can only feel better after a week of rest. Get him the ball, and watch him go.
3. Take advantage of size matchups. Ernest Wilford could be starting opposite Jimmy Smith, with or without a healthy Reggie Williams. This leaves Matt Jones and Reggie Williams (if playing) in the slot against nickels, safeties, and LBs. Their size should allow them to take advantage of this, as should Wilford's.
The Texans will win if:
1. They contain the DLine. Although Marcus Stroud is now, hurt, his status is not certain. The Texans OLine is very suspect, and they need to protect Carr and give Davis running lanes to be successful at all.
2. Run the ball. The Jaguars run defense is up in the air right now. It's an area the Texans need to attack with a great visionary running back like Davis. Also, the Texans passing game has been one of the worst in the NFL thus far.
3. Stop Fred Taylor. In Taylor's last two games, hes gained 297 yards. Oh yeah, and he's feeling better right now. The Texans defense to not afford to let him get going early, which will also open up the Jaguars passing game. They need to shut that down quickly.
Prediction: Jaguars win 32-13
(NOTE: I always pick the Jags )

I think the jags will win this game by a big margin. I would like to see another game like we played in 2003 (27-0 Jaguars). I hope we score 30 one of these weeks. _________________

Yeah but 27-0 or scoring 30 is not the priority here.. winning is.

Oh I totally agree...winning is the big issue. I would like us one of these weeks to just creme another team the whole game so I can relax for a change during the game. _________________

Yeah but we came into last week looking for a lot of points and everything, but we forgot... we need to win.

Yeah i think the whole talk last week about us maybe putting 30 points on the board distarcted us. We need to concentrate and just play good. _________________

I'm very worried about this game. We tend to show up for the big games and not show up for the games we should win. Houston always gives us trouble just like any division opponent, but this is a HUGE game, we MUST stay above .500 in the afc.

There is no way we can go .500 in the AFC at this stage of the season. We always need to be at least 2 games above .500 from here on out. _________________

I think that if he starts...our run defense will actually get better because he is going to want to prove the 49ers wrong for benching him. He should be a good start for us this week. _________________

I think that if Winborn has a good game...I would maybe look for him to start the rest of the season in place of Akin. _________________

Maybe if he has consistently good games... I dont think this one game would determine that.

Maybe if Akin struggles in this game though...it could be a sign of things to come. _________________
