The Saints have cut RB Deuce McAllister.

http://blog.nola.com/saintsbeat/2009/02/new_orleans_saints_and_deuce_m.html

*McAllister was drafted by the Saints in the first round of the 2001 draft, McAllister is the Saints all-time rushing leader.

This move was expected, McAllister had injury problems and was getting older, probably a sad day for Saints fans but Pierre Thomas showed a lot of ability.

Yup, the dreaded 30 year mark.

So will Reggie Bush or Pierre Thomas be the starter? Think

Hopefully Pierre, when Pierre averaged more than like13 carriers last year Bush's ypc jumped from 3.5 to 5.5

My $'s on PT. 4.8 YPC, produced pretty well when he got carries. Reggie's better in a complementary role anyways.

This will be Reggie Bush's make or break year. He'll certainly head into camp as the starter and will have a chance to live up to the lofty expectations that surrounded him coming out of SC. If Bush continues to disappoint then we could see Pierre Thomas step into the starting role by mid-season.

Its a sad day to see Deuce go. He could really kick some butt. He will be on a Roster before the start of next year.

With two surgically repaired knees. Everyone knew that he was gone. Heck, the fans were bringing "Thank you, Deuce" signs with them to the Saints' final home game.

He wasn't dominant. He had two excellent years, two "ok" years and four bad/injured years.

Sad to see him go, but this was bound to happen...he's too old, and pretty ineffective at this point in his career, especially with Pierre Thomas in that backfield.

With that said, if Sean Payton is smart, he's going to give the starting job to Pierre Thomas. Pierre is everything Reggie Bush was supposed to be as a runner...Reggie's definitely a career 3rd down back. Nothing more, nothing less.
