Jaguars RB Fred Taylor has been cut by the Jaguars after 11 seasons with the team.

http://jacksonville.com/sports/football/jaguars/2009-02-16/story/fred_taylor_released_from_jaguars

*Taylor was drafted by the Jaguars in the first round of the 1998 draft, in 2007 he made his first Pro-Bowl after rushing for 1,202 yards and 5 TD's.

Its a sad day for when a team is forced to release a veteran player who did so much for them over the years for cap reasons, Taylor was due to receive a base salary of $5 million in 2009, and $6 million in 2010.

Might as well. He's done.

No one is going to want a 33 year old injury prone RB.

I don't see anyone picking him up.. Maybe they'll bring him back for $1 so he can retire a Jag.

Cheers to Freddy T on a great career so far. Hopefully he can land a spot on a SB quality team. He deserves a ring.

Bring him to the burgh. Well carry him with us so he can get a ring Wink

Cheers to him. He's had an excellent career. He's the most underrated RB to ever play the game IMO.

Hopefully this cap space can help the Jags rebuild

i hope he signs with the next superbowl team. he still has some in the tank and is real close to breaking the top 10 all time rushers.

He needs 1k yards exactly to get into the top 10.... I cant see that happening if he doesn't get at least the #2 back spot on a team

Will MJD be able to carry a full seasons worth of carries?

this is really cold of the Jags, they couldve at least kept him as the back up because i know MJD wants to start...how can they do this to a franchise player?

It's amazing how quickly things change. In 2007 he truly looked as good as ever. This past year was rough for the entire team though. And when you lose your entire interior O-Line, your RB's are bound to struggle. I think he still has something left, it was just the fact that he was such a big cap hit that lead to this happening.

It's a sad day as a Jags fan. I wish him the best.

No, I guarantee we'll pick somebody else up via draft/free agency to compliment him.

Look, the guys not being payed much...Keep him on the team for moral support. He's an excellent red-zone runner, and hey, anything can happen. Say Jacksonville winds up in the Bowl. Fred Taylor will be there along with em.

But congrats on Taylor who will most likely be in the Jag's Ring of fame.

Why would the Patriots sign him? they had a bunch of career back-ups and undrafted rookie free-agent starting and still were ranked 6th in the NFL in rushing.
