Okay, I don't see any free agents that I really like.
We can cut Kasay, re-sign him tonight, sign Kyle, use all of our draft picks (we don't have a 7th round pick, so 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 6) and we would be at 53 and slightly under the cap. Should I go ahead and cut/bid on Kasay, and then bid on Kyle? _________________

I wouldn't mind cutting Kasay, we could sign three players with his cap savings (possibly even get him back). Do we want to go ahead and do that?
I'll look over our roster and see if there are any depth type free agents that look interesting.
P11: You don't have RT Geoff Schwartz, WLB Tim Shaw, or S Joe Fields on the roster. Put Schwartz at RT and move Omiyale to LT, Shaw at WLB, and Fields at SS (move Teal to FS, he is a coverage type). So that brings the roster up to 45 (so 8 more guys).
And we don't have a 7th round pick, we traded it to Miami for McCown, so we have 7 picks (what happened to our fifth?).
So that means we should sign one more free agent (Jason Kyle?). I think we should cut Kasay and try to re-sign him for 500k. That would save us 1 million. |
Will do. And the 5th went to Chicago in the Pep trade. _________________

Did we sign Tim Shaw as a UFA? Can I count Fields and Scwatrz as UFA's resigned? _________________

Yes. All three are UFAs re-signed.
I've got a basic big board (okay, so theres like 80 guys), but I'll PM it to a few people. _________________

Okay, I'm going to go cut Kasay and then offer him 500k. I'll offer Springs the next step up too (550k). _________________

Okay, I released/bid on Kasay.
The Colts bid on Springs, so I bid 600k. Hopefully this sparks a bidding war between the Colts and Skins. _________________

We cut Kasay? I'm not sure I like that, but if we can get him back, I suppose that's alright.
I think going after Shawn Springs would be a good idea. He's a veteran who knows how to play the game and could be good for our young guys (Wilson and Marshall primarily) at the CB spot. _________________

If we got Springs, that would make us just focus on DE, DT, and BPA with our 1st 3 picks. _________________

Right now we're the leaders on him at 600k and leading on Kasay at 500k. Both would become official about 9:30 tonight. _________________

We want to stay put for now, but maybe we could talk on draft day. _________________
