Tyson- 6'5 292lbs
Jarron- 6'5 287lbs
If we dont take Tyson in round 1 and we draft OL then i say we MUST get Jarron in round 2 so he doesnt slip away with us not drafting til late in round 3. Saw highlight tapes of Jarron Gilbert, hes nasty |

If Duke is available round 1, we go with him, then Gilbert in the third.
If Duke isnt available, we go with Jackson, then go LG in the third _________________

I am a huge fan of both players.
Its not even close.
Tyson Jackson.
Jackson comes off the team plane draft day ready to play run downs in the NFL.
Gilbert has sensational athleticism...He could be the best player in this draft. He could be the next Reggie White
Gilbert is a you tube dream....He played at SJSU...Jackson started 3 years in the SEC...For one of the best defenses in the country...Playing on a team with numerous 5 star recruits.
Tyson Jackson is the safe pick...Gilbert has that french word for he hasnt done squat yet...Potential

I will be very upset if the Steelers draft William Nkwenti...I mean Mathias Beatty _________________

I've read that the scouts say Gilbert is hit-or-miss. He does not have the work ethic and sometimes losses interest. When he is on he is special. That is the gamble in taking him.
People should look at Robert Ayers DE Tenn. He would make a good 3-4 DE. _________________

Already mentioned that in the prospect thread. Though he is a little bit short than our "typical molds."
From what I have read, he put a whooping on Oher in senior bowl practices, he also has some room on his frame to get larger/more muscular. _________________

One thing i think we all need to take into consideration in this draft is that with all the teams that are new to the 3-4 from last season and all the teams switching this year are going to inflate the value of the 3-4 players. So Tyson, Gilbert, Ayers and even NT like Brace are going to go higher now. _________________

I've noticed that too, on some "mocks" I've seen Mitch King going as high as the third round.
But it also could be a double edge sword, if teams take 3-4 defensive players, rather and offensive players, we could very well end up with great offensive lineman or a great WR b/c teams will be focusing on defensive players.
Who knows what will happen, but it's going to be fun! _________________

Tyson is the best without a doubt. I would take him over guys like Duke, Mack, and Beatty no question. Tyson is a going to be a solid piece on a
3-4 team. He's going to be a rock...perhaps Aaron Smith quality like an unsung hero. Jarron's ceiling is really high though. No doubt that the level of compition is an isue but he's big, nasty, and has loads of talents. I think if he added some more bulk, he could maybe be like a Jason Jones type of player.
If we sign a big name OL then I'd like for us to go Jackson in the first then maybe get someone like Antoine Caldwell in the 2nd, then I think we could be in range to move up and grab someone like Trevor Canfield or Mitch King.
If we don't get anyone to help the OL then I'd go Duke in the first, Jarron in the 2nd, then get Trevor Canfield and maybe someone like Derrick Williams with our 3rd rounders.
Either way Jackson and Gilbert would look good in black n gold. Mitch King already knows he looks good in them colors |
