Draft Picks

#66

S David Bruton, Notre Dame

Bruton may be considered to be somewhat of a reach at this point, but as an organization, we feel like he is the perfect player to help our S situation out. Bruton earned a reputation for being a ballhawk, and the only major beef found on him is his hands, which as an easily fixed problem. Bruton can strive learning under Mike Brown, and it's always good to bring in a guy from a nearby college.

We feel very confident that the competition at FS between Danieal Manning, Craig Steltz and now David Bruton will produce the result we want.

WELCOME TO CHICAGO DAVID!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#99

The Bears feel that Barden is the perfect target for them at this point in the draft. He is a giant at 6'6'' and provides a huge redzone target. Barden was super productive at his level and the only beef on him is that he played against inferior competition. There was another guy who had this same knock. His name was Terrell Owens. Barden provides an excellent compliment to Devin Hester and Marvin Harrison, and the Bears are ecstatic to welcome him to the Windy City.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#115

RB Cedric Peerman, Virginia

The Bears feel that Peerman will be a great back to split with Forte. Peerman can run it up the middle and runs with some strength. We are excited to make this pick and welcome him to the Chicago Bears.

WELCOME TO CHICAGO CEDRIC!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#117

DE Matt Shaughnessy, Wisconsin

We feel that Shaughnessy is our ideal cover 2 DE. He can come in and rush on 3rd downs right away, and if he's able to put on some bulk, he can become an every down DE for us. With the addition of him, Rod Marinelli and Julius Peppers, our DL looks to be in great shape.

WELCOME TO CHICAGO MATT!!

Would the Bears happen to have interest in Laveranues Coles?

Would you guys be interested in Matt Cassel or Jarvis Green?

Here are my thoughts on some things, feel free to post yours as well.

Trade Block
DE Adewale Ogunleye
CB Nathan Vasher
WR Marty Booker
WR Rashied Davis

Team Needs
WR
DE
S
RT
QB
OG
(in no order)

and my thoughts on the inquiries we've gotten so far..

John Beck QB - I'm not particularly interested. He came into the league as an old rookie (27 I believe) so he's probably older than Kyle, and less developed. If we need a project QB, we have Hanie.

Ernest Wilford WR - I would be interested but only for the right price. I think he has a relatively high cap, and could be a hinderance to FA efforts.

Vonnie Holliday DL - Not interested. He projects to be a DT in our system and I don't see that as an area of need.

Rodrique Wright DL - see Vonnie Holliday.

Donte Stallworth WR - I'm interested. He's bounced around between a few teams, but is certainly better than any WR threat we currently have.

Chad Johnson WR - Mildly interested. He would certainly be an upgrade over our current WRs, but it would be tough to bring him in just because of his locker room impact.

Julius Peppers DE - Pretty interested. He is a FA, but Carolina is looking to tag and trade. I would love to bring him in, but it would cost $17 mill to the cap, and I'm not sure that we can afford it with the number of holes we have.

Maurice Stovall WR - see Ernest Wilford.

Patrick Crayton WR - Not really interested. He seems to do more off the field than he does on it.

Greg Ellis DE - Don't know much about him. I could be swayed either way.

Roy Williams SS - Not too interested. Seems like we already tried the hard-hitter approach with Archuleta.

Coles is a little bit old for my taste. While he would definitely be an upgrade, I'm not sure how much I would want to spend.

What would the price be?

We could be interested in Cassell, but it seems like his price might be a little high after being franchised.

How does Jarvis project in a 4-3 Cover 2 defense?

Personally, we have always thought that he is better suited as a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 DE, where he is just a situational pass rusher for us.

What does everyone think of LenDale White? He is on the Titans' block.

I think we could use this guy to spell Forte in a 65/35ish split. We've also been looking for someone who can get it done within short range. This might be the guy. Let me know what you think.

I think those are the 4 out of the offers we have gotten to pursue.

I wouldn't mind him, But only for a relatively lower price.
