Thursday, January 29th --- Staff positions will be finalized within each team war rooms. Obviously you can add any interested members after this deadline as a scout, since an unlimited number is allowed. Feel free to be creative with position titles and duties. This edition staffs may look to create a VP of Player Personnel, ala the Bill Parcells roll for example. Although Parcells’ roll does oversee the GM position in real life, in this case the GM will hold the final say within the event. For those who finish early you may use this time to prepare for the upcoming periods within FFMD-09. Please remember that even if you do not have an official title within the staff created you may still offer your input and opinion to the event within your war room. We encourage anyone to contribute in whichever capacity you would like. It is highly recommended that you use this extra time for preparation. Staying organized is critical to a successful FFMD.

Friday, January 30th – Rosters and Salary Caps will be finalized. Free Agency rules will be posted in a different thread. Once your roster has been approved for FFMD (we have people working on correct rosters and cap figures currently) anyone not currently under the 123 million dollar cap will be required to release players to get under the cap, which will happen Monday, Feb 2nd.

Monday, February 2nd --- Franchise tag/release period begins from 8am to Midnight. All teams interested in placing the franchise tag on an upcoming UFA must be placed within this deadline. Franchise figures will be outlined at a later date. All rosters at the end of the day today should be under the 123 Million Dollar salary cap. The Cap saving formula for releasing a player will be posted in the upcoming days. EliteTexan80 will lay out the ground rules for the RFA and UFA periods in great detail. Last year we utilized a new feature known as player agents. This year that idea will be further enhanced and upgraded to what will be known as the “Talent Agency” where a committee will decide the top 35 available UFA’s destination based on a variety of factors. More on that feature coming in the next few days. It will be important the GM work hand in hand with the capologist during this period to make sure that you stay under the cap. This year the capologist will be a more important role than in previous editions so a member of each staff should be focused on this role.

Tuesday, February 3rd – The RFA period will begin and run through Friday, February 6th. There will be a 12-hour window before a bid is accepted. Compensation and tender figures will be announced at a later date.

Saturday, February 7th --- The RFA period ends and the UFA period will begin. EliteTexan80 will post information regarding rules and more information regarding our new Talent Agency before the RFA period begins. The top 35 available UFA’s will be represented by a council created to keep offers more realistic this year. Motivation factors of UFA’s as well as financial offers will determine their destination and we feel this will be a key feature to make FFMD-09 better then before.

Sunday, February 15th – The UFA period ends.

Monday, February 16th – THE FFMD-09 draft starts and will last 4 rounds. The first 2 rounds will have 2-hour time slots and rounds 3 and 4 will have a one-hour time slot for a pick to be made. Also, a new Rookie pay scale will be introduced in the upcoming days. Teams will have to account for more cap space than in previous editions, as each pick will have a realistic cap hit to work around.

Friday, February 27th – Draft ends.

Saturday, February 28th – UDFA period opens and lasts until midnight.

Sunday, March 1st – FFMD-09 closes all transactions and teams will finalize rosters and cap figures. All teams must remain under the 123 million dollar cap limit at all times.

Monday, March 2nd – Recap (staffs, writers and other posters review the mock draft and share the opinions.)

Well, let's decide now where we want Rhodes playing. FS or SS?

SS for me. This allows him to do the things that made him shine in 07 and 06 while moving Lowery to FS (<-- Yes that's a suggestion ) Laughing

Don't get me wrong, Kerry does a great job in CF but his strengths are better utilized playing SS.

I agree with keeping Rhodes as SS primarily and having him watching the deep play sometimes, or having him play there most of the time when we face explosive offenses that have WRs with deep threat abilities. But we do need to address that position whether it be through draft or free agency or even a trade.

My two cents, wait to see how Free Agency and the draft goes. You shouldn't limit your pick of a Safety to fit a certain position.

I'll be here putting my two cents in for everything and grilling just about anything and everything. Very Happy

I don't think we have to decide on Rhodes just yet. Might as well test the free agent market and draft and see what happens. Remember, in Ryan's scheme that preaches flexibility he doesn't need a true position. Either way he'll be in the box, blitzing, and playing center field at times.

Something I've been looking for clarification on. Do the Saints get our 4th rounder or not? Walter Football says we still have it, even if we get a third.

Rhodes is build specimen wise as a SS with that size, but like JATW says it doesn't matter, if there is something available in the market at either position it shouldn't us back as Rhodes versatility is a good thing.

I'm assuming most of us want Favre cut, correct? He'll save us 13,000,000 in cap room.

Yeah. But the issue is, what if one of the NFC North teams pick him up, do we have to give up our first round pick?

No, I believe that's only through trade.

i'm pretty sure that the deal was if we traded him, we'd owe them 3 firsts.

Hey, I am from the Texans War Room and I was wondering if you guys have any interest in Anthony Weaver? He was good in a 3-4 defense but has struggled with us because we play a 4-3
