The Texans have so many needs right now that they will need to make some major moves in the draft as well as free agency.
Positions we will be looking at include: WR, O-line, D-line, LB, Both Safety spots, TE. O-line is a major need right now, and that is probably the only guarantee for our first round pick. In the 2nd and 3rd (remember we have New Orleans' 3rd rounder this year), look for us to go BPA at those positions.
First off, in the draft, if we get the first overall pick I'd like to see us trade down probably twice. We could trade down to about the 5th or 10th overall spot and take the best available tackle. I'm not even kidding, we need an offensive tackle. At that spot, I'd really like to see us take Jonathan Scott from Texas, or else Winston from Miami or Ferguson from VT.
In the second round, we need to look at BPA. We need some help at nearly any available position. Guys that I like in the second are: Michael Huff, SS from Texas; Leonard Pope, TE from Georgia; Max-Jean Gillies, OG from Georgia; Spencer Havner, LB from UCLA; Gabe Watson, DT from Michigan; Orien Harris, DT from Miami
In the third, adding the next best available players at any of those positions is a must. Guys like: Demetrius Williams, WR from Oregon; Matt Herrian, TE from Nebraska, etc, etc.... I don't know much of the depth in the 3rd rounds and beyond.
Hope this helps. Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask. |
