I know I'm thinking WAY ahead, but this is undoubtedly Vermeil's last year, so the question I ask is who will be our head coach in 2006? My sentimental choiice is Bill Cowher - I think he would love to come back to KC and I know I would love to have him. What do yall think?

Al Saunders deserves a shot

I think we should give Al Saunders a shot but Id love to have Cowher not only because hes a good all around coach but also because hes an incredible defensive coach, and we need a good defensive coach.

yeah I like Al to but we need a defensive head coach, Al is an Offensive guru he needs to stay on Offense, but I don't think he would like that,

I agree. If Cowher comes in Gunny is gone. Give Gunny some toys before we judge him too harshly.

Why do you think Gunther would have to leave? I don't think he would have to just because Cowher is a defensive coach....Cowher has LeBeau in Pittsburgh right now and they brought him in two years ago. Cowher would take us back to the mid '90s when we beat people 17-7 and had a sick defense, which is a good thing I think.

Cowher is a 3-4 guy and Gunny hates the 3-4. It's on record.

What about Pete Carroll?

I know he failed once or twice before but he has been doing pretty well
at USC....

That's not true, is it? DT's 20 sack season was in a 3-4 defense and Cowher was the defensive coordinator. They switched to a 4-3 after Cowher took the Pitt job. I believe Dave Adolph became the DC, because we lost Tony Dungy to Minnesota as a result, who was our secondary coach at the time.

I remember because I was opposed to the switch, because it limited DT's opportunity to rush the QB, but it helped Neil Smith. I still think it was a mistake.

What about Herm Edwards if he gets ran out of town by rabid NY sports fans? He'd be a guy I'd at least like them to look at.
