Week 4 - 49ers vs. Saints
The Saints get back on track at home against a young and rebuilding 49ers team. McKenzie takes Bryant Johnson out of the game and Isaac Bruce is too old to outrun Porter and Harper. Gore puts up a 100 yard game, but his efforts aren't enough. Saints win 45-24
(Record 2-2, 1-0 Divison)
Week 5 - Vikings vs. Saints
The Saints win a tough battle at home against a great defense. The Vikes defense puts a lot of pressure on Brees, but their offense can't put enough points on the board. Their biggest weakness (passing) benefits our biggest weakness (passing defense) and we win 27-17.
(Record 3-2, 1-0 Division)
Week 6 - Raiders vs. Saints
The Raiders have a great secondary, but after Al Davis ditches their head coach, the Raiders return to their days of wandering through wilderness in search of the Land of Milk and Honey. The Raiders' defense shows up to the game, but the offense lost their baggage at Louis Armstrong International and miss the kickoff. Saints win 30-10.
(Record 4-2, 1-0 Division)
Week 7 - Saints vs. Panthers
The Panthers have a great run game (which puts up 130 yards) and Delhomme manages to find Steve Smith and Co. for 250 yards. The Panthers get out to an early lead. HOWEVER, FF's very own BrownBaggin is in attendance and manages to hit Steve Smith in the back of the head with a beer can while running back onto the field after halftime. Smith's 2nd half numbers show and the Saints put together a comeback. Although Marques Colston makes his official return and puts up 115 yards receiving, this game comes down to a crucial Saints' 3rd and 1 (hardly going out on a limb, I know...) and Payton elects to let Pierre run for a no gain. The Saints lose a close shoot out at Carolina, 35-30. On the way out, yours truly gets escorted out by Charlotte's Finest after starting a fight with 10 drunk Panthers fans.
(Record 4-3, 1-1 Division)
Week 8 - Chargers vs. Saints (in London)
This isn't the same Chargers team we expected at the beginning of the season. Between a injured LT and Sproles, the Chargers manage to put up 160 yards on the ground against our defense. Rivers struggles though with the passing game, while being pressured by Grant, Ellis, McCray and Smith. Vilma & a healthy Fujita keep Gates in check and McKenzie tames Vincent Jackson. Porter and Chambers are the key matchup in the passing game, but with the help of Harper and KK, Porter comes out on top. Brees exploits the lack of pocket pressure and throws for 425 yards and the Chargers are weak in the middle of the field, where Shockey (who returns to this game after hernia surgery) and Colston catch pass after pass in the middle of the field. Saints win 28 - 17.
(Record 5-3, 1-1 Division)
Week 9 - BYE
The Saints take their recommended daily dose of Flintstones and they finally peel off a few moldy band-aids. The Saints recharge for their final leg before the playoffs (which finally includes a good amount of Division battles).
Week 10 - Saints vs. Falcons
The Falcons are a better team than expected but this game is an offensive battle, in which a very young and talented Matt Ryan can't keep up with Drew Brees. The Saints win this game because they are able to throw the ball through the air for 450 yards and because they are able to sack Ryan 5 times. Michael Turner isn't able to put up enough yards to keep the Dirty Birds in the game. Saints win 35 - 14.
(Record 6-3, 2-1 Division)
Week 11 - Saints vs. Chiefs
Dwayne Bowe vs. McKenzie is a wonderful battle, but without a break out game by Bowe, the Chiefs are unable to move the ball. The Saints' secondary holds the Chiefs to under 180 yards throwing and the Saints' front 7 make LJ miss his "good ol' days" (when the Chiefs actually blocked for him). Brees leads the Saints to a 500+ yard game. This one is ugly from the get-go and Glenn Dorsey tries to sneak in Sedrick Ellis' luggage to come back home to the Boot. Saints win 48-10.
(Record 7-3, 2-1 Division)
Week 12 - Packers vs. Saints
Brees vs. Rodgers. Colston vs. Woodson. Jennings vs. McKenzie. Driver vs. Porter. Shockey vs. Hawk. Bush vs. Grant. Patten & Meachem vs. Harris. The Fantasy Football Galaxy collides and this one proves to be a classic barn-burner. The Packers sneak a win out of this one due to their ability to put together a slightly more lethal passing attack. The Pack wins 42-38.
(Record 7-4, 2-1 Division)
Week 13 - Saints vs. Buccaneers
See Week 1... but include a healthy Colston, McKenzie and Deuce. The Buccs leave hungry for vengeance and have to postpone their vendetta until 2009. Saints win 28-12.
(Record 8-4, 3-1 Division)
Week 14 - Falcons vs. Saints
What's for dinner? BrownBaggin's favorite Bourbon Chicken. This one gets ugly and the Saints defense makes a huge statement by allowing only 170 total yards. Brees has his kicks & giggles (throwing for 455 yards) and Reggie, Shockey, Colston & Meachem all see paydirt. New Orleans beats Atlanta like a rental mule, winning 55-6.
(Record 9-4, 3-1 Division)
Week 15 - Saints vs. Bears
Our running game doesn't even sniff a 100 yard game in this one, but Brees luckily keeps us in the game. However, due to the Saints' inability to convert on a few key "3rd and short's", the Bears' defense once again wins this one in Chicago, 24-21. Fumbles by our RBs and poor field position are to blame for this loss.
(Record 9-5, 3-1 Division)
Week 16 - Saints vs. Lions
Despite Jon Kitna guaranteeing 400 yards against our secondary, the Saints have a field day with this matchup. The Saints biggest threat to this game is the Saints' Week 17 matchup with the Panthers. But nevertheless, a veteran Brees still manages to embarrasses the Lions' secondary and puts up a 250 yard game before being yanked by Payton for health precautions. Saints win this one 38-17. All of the Lions points coming in the 2nd half.
(Record 10-5, 3-1 Division)
Week 17 - Panthers vs. Saints
The Saints have already clinched a spot in the playoffs and the Panthers are fighting to clinch the final Wild Card spot. The only thing that keeps the Saints in this game is their desire to beat a division rival who beat them earlier this season. Sean Payton decides to take the route that the Giants took last year and play his starters. This one goes down to the wire but the Saints barely squeek by. Believe it or not, it's the Saints defense that keeps this one close, making a huge statement for all the NFC playoff opponents. The Saints manage to get enough points on the board to win 21-19. The Panthers miss the playoffs, thanks to the dominance of the NFC East.
(Record 11-5, 4-1 Division)
NFC Playoff teams include: Cowboys (East winner), Packers (North winner), Saints (South winner), Cardinals (West winner), Eagles, Giants _________________

Losses against the Packers, Panthers and Bears...
Wins against Lions, Falcons, Chiefs, Raiders, Chargers, Vikings, 49ers and Buccs...
I'd definitely say "do-able." Maybe the Chargers or Vikings game goes the other way - but I doubt both of them. _________________

That's what I was thinking. If Peterson or Tomlinson are healthy, either one could blow up on us. I think Minnesota is the most likely, but that's contingent on Colston getting healthy in time to travel to London. _________________

45 - 24 is a little much against a 49er team that has looked pretty good thus far. Their defense is what makes me respect them, hopefully JT will make enough mistakes to give us the easy win but I think their D will keep them in the game. _________________

I dunno man, I have to disagree with you. Not on the fact that they have a good defense cuz theirs is pretty damn good...But on the fact that we will put up some numbers. I mean Reggie had anal intercourse with the niners in 2006. I think we will win big. _________________

The way I see it, they allowed a very weak Seahawks team put up 30 points on them. I know the 49ers have a talented defense... but I just think the guns will be blazin' next week. Also look for us to get some good pressure on J.T.
Yes, they are a good defense, but I think our offense will keep them on the field quite a bit and a close 1st half game gets out of hand late in the 2nd half. _________________

Very doable but I see our second game against Tampa going to them. _________________

Eh. 2006 is irrelevant if you ask me. _________________

I agree with you and thats all fine and dandy but 45-24 ?? Thats ridiculous. Whens the last time we beat a team that badly? _________________

I don't think this will be a blowout either way. Yeah, Brees is a stud but believe it or not SF is the top defense in the NFC against the pass. _________________

With Shockey out, I'd be willing to lower our points against the 49ers by 10 points. 35-24 final. _________________

I think p-willy will be up to the challenge. And his day wasnt as great as most people think. He scored like 3 times on runs inside the 10. Im not saying he didnt tear us up that game because he did but our defense is a lot more athletic then the last defense you saw. You guys are definently the favorite by probably a big margin but the niners have confidence and if JTO can hang onto the ball and limit turnovers like he has the last 2 games I think we have a punchers chance. _________________

Sorry if we sound like we hate the '9ers but after that Denver game (in which we both gave away and we're robbed - all at the same time), we're a little bitter. We want blood.
It's really nothing personal against San Fran. _________________
