I will continue to add more to the first post as the season progresses. I'm at work right now, so I can't do too much.
Boy, they looked awful today, save Shonn Greene. The quarterback situation hasn't improved at all, as Stanzi basically played his way back to being a back-up, and everyone knows what Christensen does.
I was very worried about the road trip to Pitt when the season started, but I'm not as worried anymore. I still think they'll probably lose it, but Pitt hasn't been terribly impressive in their two games. _________________

I would go back to the QB rotation for Pitt. It worked against lesser opponents, but Ricky was bad and Jake was OK. Hopefully if Moeaki can go, he will help out the QBs. I'm hoping the field conditions were the main factor for the poor passing game. _________________

Stanzi didn't look comfortable in the pocket other than a few passes, and he had a lot of his throws sail on him.
I wouldn't be opposed to the rotation against Pitt, but I would like to have a full-time starter by the start of conference play. _________________

Defense has looked very nice so far. Passing game should be better as we do have talented WRs.
Running game is good to go. _________________ "They All Wanna Be Like Willis" [song] |

Man what has been going on in Hawkland recruiting hasn't been as good as it has been in the past years. Give me some insight please. By the Way I am a Iowan born in Waterloo, IA. _________________ "God created ALL men.. Winchester and Basball bats made'em all EQUAL"......Evel Knievel |

By the Way I am a Iowan born in Waterloo, IA. | Part of it is that they have been unable to keep the top players in-state (which they have done in the 2009 class, Keenan Davis, Brandon Wegher, Jordan Cotton). However, they also have taken a hit because they have not played up to expectations the last few years, and it's hard to recruit if you aren't playing well. _________________

The Hawkeyes are now receiving votes in both the AP and USA Today polls. They are ranked 36th by the AP and 37th by the USA Today.
A road win against Pitt win be enough to vault them into the top 25. _________________

At the starting of the year I thought Iowa would be an easy for Wisconsin. Looks like I was wrong.
There looking great this year. _________________

If we could get someone to play QB good for us, we might already be in the top 25. Our defense is a top 25 defense for sure _________________ "They All Wanna Be Like Willis" [song] |

Underrated game vs Pitt which I think is big for both teams. Iowa, who i thought was going to suck, has been winning, although against lower competition. This is a measuring stick game for this team. _________________

Congrats on the great start guys. As an Ohio State fan it's good to see you guys showing some forms of life again as it'll help the Conference out as a whole. Although I really like Pitt I hope you guys take it to them and start building a name for you guys again. _________________

I've been waiting for a hawks thread to start up.
I live in Cali so all I've seen about the Hawks this year is the final score, and i have a question for people that have been able to watch the games, is the D this good, or is it really just due to weak competition? |

Ok, first of all they beat a very young ISU team by 14 points, which by the way had one flag not been thrown, ISU could have easily won that game.
** The flag that was thrown in the 2nd half for helmet-to-helmet was absolutely terrible. Instead of ISU getting the ball on the fumble, Iowa got the ball back and added 15 yards towards the goal line. Two plays later they scored from like 5 yards out to make the score 10-3.
I dont want to sound like ISU would have won the game and nor did Iowa make the call on the field, but the officials pretty much rewarded Iowa for fumbling. Plus, watching the play on the big screen at the game made the play even more rediculous as the player called for the helmet-to-helmet was actually hitting him with the side of the helmet as he was moving backwards from the Iowa TE. Helmet-to-helmet could be called on about every play (ie LB's filling holes or taking on FB blocks) and if a ref should make a helmet-to-helmet call, it should be a hit on the QB, or even something way obvious. However, that wasn't even a close call and it ruined what could have been a down to the wire great rivalry game. |
