One of the great true Raiders that helped form the mystique that shaped the Raider image of the 70's.
Tougher than nails and a spirit to win in the trenches matched by few.
11 pro bowls on the offensive line! Amazing.
How they honor him on opening night is something to look forward to.
Peace Bro. _________________

RIP Upshaw
A true great Raider and tough as nails, had determination and fire that you rarely see these days.
A great player and die hard Raider. _________________

Very well said WRS!
This loss will be felt by not only the Nation but by the league as a whole.
He was a true ambassador of the game and made significant contributions at every level.
He will be missed. May he rest in Peace. _________________

It's a shame we don't retire shirts.
AFAIK he is still the only player to have played in 3 SB's in 3 different decades.
I trust Al will give him a fitting tribute before the MNF Denver game. It's going to be an emotional night. RIP #63. _________________

A great leader on and off the field, he will be missed.
It will be interesting to see how the league changes without his presence. _________________

God bless you Gene. 63 years of #63 equals commitment to excellence. Gene stared down his PA detractors until his final days.....that's a union man grounded in Raider fortitude. The denver game just became BANG serious!
P.S. Give Dwight White a good head club in heaven....... for old times sake. |

Athough I was not even born when he played, I know that Upshaw was truly one of the great Raider players.
