I've never played on a coverage or return team in my life (I'm admittedly a bigger guy who played RT my whole life, well into college). And I leave all designs of such to my assistants as a coach. Special teams is just not something I am well versed in, and I really don't want to give bad or poorly informed information. These posts aren't based on opinion but rather on fact and contain information rather than personal thoughts. I don't want to sway from that by breaking down something I am not entirely 100% familiar and informed on.

In short, I know where my in depth knowledge ends, and special teams is one place it does just that. Wink

Well, get your assistants to do a write-up. Razz

Being my assistant stops at the exit out of the school, apparently. Razz

With a new NFL season, should come some updates to some of these posts - I have added more information to the QB, WR, and DB guides/FAQs.

Enjoy - and learn!

Very welcome! Those posts are almost 3 years old, though...and were long buried until I edited a couple and bumped them back up for more folks to learn from Smile

This is very impressive, and if I were to make a suggestion, I would add videos to show an example when you can.

I found these two for ZBS vs. Power Man

ZBS

Power Man (starts at 4:33 of the video)

Glad to help. Also you have Pocket Passers explained twice in your QB section.

Ah, yeah, so I did. Seems I made an error while copy/pasting from my original post (this is just a compilation of the other threads I made individually for each guide). Took care of it now - thanks again!

Would you like me to write a supplementary piece, explaining Nickel, Dime, Quarter. Capers' 2-4-5, Washburn's wide 9, and some of the other interesting variations that exist around the league?

When I think of the statement 'big arm' I don't necessarily think of how FAR a QB can throw. Jacory Harris (QB for UM) can legitimately throw ball 60 yards down the field with ease, but I still consider him to have a weak arm.

It's more of the LINE they throw it on. Rodgers/Brady and esp Vick can throw the ball far down the field, on a line, and still have an accurate ball.

Jacory floats it down there, allowing the defense to react. Big difference imo.

You're quite welcomed to do so! The X's and O's talk we get going, the better! IMO.

There are so many variations of the nickel, dime, etc, though. The 2-4-5 in itself is a nickel formation. The 'wide 9' is a variation on a 4-1-6 dime or a basic 4-3, too.

Hehe. I'm glad I was able to help, then! Some of this isn't strictly X's and O's, but it's a good platform to start understanding the deeper stuff from.
