From everything I can remember, Cushing's been jacked ever since he's been at USC. He does look significantly bigger in the 2nd picture, though (and more straight, too).
If I remember right, there was some steroid speculation regarding Cushing after he enrolled for the Trojans. Not sure what came of it. |

wouldn't suprise me one bit it is USC... they are probably working with Barry Bonds' trainers and BALCO to get their player to taht elite level...
On a serious note,
I think he hit the weights hard for 3 years and has that to show for all his hard work!!! He was small as a freshman but not that small or as small as he is portrayed in that picture. The dude has gained almost 30 lbs since being at USC which is about 10 lbs/year and maybe that is what 30 lbs of muscle looks like on his frame... he came in at about 225 and is currently about 235 but went as high as 255 so maybe he bulked and then trimmed... _________________

There have been rumors of him being a steroid user since his high school days. And there are some things in those photos that would lead me to believe there's a good possibility that he was/is using steroids. But it's all just speculation at this point. _________________

These pics are all over the place right now. I dont know what I think about it at first i thought it was photo shoped but then the more i looked at it I backed off that line of thought. Then someone said he had a couple shoulder injuries the one year and he couldnt really lift or work out but you would think he would be able to keep his manly figure a little better than that. Even if he did take steroids he put in a ton of work in the weight room one way or another. Ive known people who have used steroids and even though it helps you gain weight and muscle mass you still have to put your time in and eat correctly. |

Well take this how you want but I know for a fact that Cushing has "dabbled" in steriod use since high school. He was on the smaller pudgy side his first two years in HS then became an absolute beast. People who played with him have told me and many other people that this transformation wasn't natrual. From what I know he stopped using once he got to USC and is now back on it.
I'm sure people are going to question me on this but if you don't believe me just look at those pics lol. And in no way am I saying this to hate on Cushing because he is a good kid and I root for him. As I do just about everyone who is from my area that I have either watched play or played agaist. _________________ My favorite teams

COMPLETELY UNFOUNDED!
This is absolutley ridicilous! The people who start the rumors are generally people who have 0 work ethic and 0 athletic ability! Anybody who has played intense college football knows what the workouts and training is like - and if you take it seriously, then it is legit
Im a former player and I went from 6'1, 165 pounds, 8% BF in High School to 1 year later being 6'1, 210 pounds 12% BF - thats 45 pounds!!!. It takes a serious work ethic, proper nutrioning and adequate sleep. Furthermore, USC is known as a top S&C school! Cushing has been a workaholic since High School and has trained with Joe DeFranco - thats fact, not rumor
The pictures show his weight fluctuating because he is on a "bulking" phase where he is gaining muscle and fat, take a look
High School
USC

You know, last time I checked gaining 45 pounds of muscle (Atleast) in a year isn't exactly the norm. No matter how well you eat and train.
Is not like they're unfounded rumors either.

these kids are drug tested so often, it would almost be impossible to take any form of performance enhancers..i played 2 D1 sports in college (not football though) and can say that i was drug tested 4-5 times a year. and this wouldn't include for somebody like him who is very high profile for a major team in a major sport. _________________

Well if you have been watching ESPN much lately they have been talking about the USA Track and Field program how there are several athletes that had been on some sort of steroid and never came back with a positive test.
The real question is if someone is on steroids the real questions should be: What are they on? Will it show up on a drug test? _________________

Who's that average Joe between the SC football players?
First of all, Cushing was not small coming out of high school. He didn't have as much mass as he does now, but USC has a legendary strength and conditioning coach. It's kinda suspicious, though... _________________

its totally possable to gain that much muscle while in a college weight training program. i went from 157 my first weigh in last june and in only one year of college im up to 170. And ive gained alot of speed. I havent' taken any hgh or steriods. im very perinode of what i put in my body. _________________ No performer should attempt to bite off red-hot iron unless he has a good set of teeth- Harry Houdini |

His gains are quite plausible and if he is on gear then he should seriously reconsider whats he's taking because he's not putting on nearly enough mass for someone in the prime muscle building years. He came out of high school listed 6-3/6-4 and anywhere from 216-225. He's currently listed at 6-4 240 which would mean a maximum weight gain of 24 lbs of nothing but lean body mass. gaining an average of 8 lbs of muscle per year at a top S&C program while being an athletic freak of nature is definitely not impossible. It generally accepted that a completely drug free weightlifter can reasonably gain 5 lbs of LBM or even go as high as 10 lbs in one year. Looking at the differences between the high school and current pictures its clear that he isn't as vascular as he was in high school which is an indicator of a higher BF%. Meaning that some of that 24 lbs has to be fat.
I believe that first picture can be fairly easily explained as 1) being a picture of someone that isn't wearing flatting clothing for their physique 2) Cushing wasn't posing or flexing in any way like he was in the other pictures 3) I believe he was rehabbing a knee injury at the time which would explain why he would have a sloppy physique. _________________
