So much for him appearing to be cleaning up his life. I'd expect that this is the end for him.

Bruh... This arrest got me thinking.. Given context and all things that transpire[d], it's possible that when we look back, Bryan Anger could be the best pick of the Gene Smith years. He's probably top 3 right now.

Also interesting of note:

R. Jay Soward is still on the Jaguars roster. We never bothered to release him after his last suspension and because a contract freezes on an indefinite suspension, he's still technically a member of the team. He played on the team for one year in 2000.

I mean he had a few decent decent picks off talent.. but even then he screwed up most of them.

2009:
  • Eugene Monroe - Solid tackle, not great, but a player I would have liked to keep.
  • Terrance Knighton - Good pick, but Gene hired Mularkey who basically drove Knighton to want out. Also struggled with his weight early on and was only a consistently good player when that was in check.
  • Derek Cox - Decent press man corner, but oft injured (potentially milking it, according to some in the know), couldn't tackle and Gene brought in a coach who ran a scheme that Cox was awful at.
2010:
  • Tyson Alualu - Good player, but was never put in a spot to be successful under Gene. Injuries greatly hampered his explosiveness. Could be on his way out after this year.
2011
  • Cecil Shorts - Could be a really good player, but injuries are a big concern.
2012
  • Justin Blackmon - Very talented receiver, but is a big problem,
  • Andre Branch - Limited player, but Gus could do some magic with how he schemes his pressures.
  • Bryan Anger - Very good Punter.

Anger is somewhere 3-5 on that list right now. You could really only put Monroe, Tyson and Cecil over him, maybe Knighton. And if Cecil and Tyson go and Branch doesn't develop, in 2-3 years, I'm not sure Anger doesn't get the #1 spot.

Jesus...

We should have stayed at 7 in 2012 and drafted Luke Kuechly. Laughing

I think he's done. We all keep waiting from the light bulb to go off, its not going to happen guys.

Did Blackmon has these sort of red flags in college too?

There were some questions. He had a DUI in 2010 (during his sophomore season) and was suspend a game. He was 20 at the time, so with any amount of alcohol in his system it was illegal for him to drive. Not sure how intoxicated he was then. But aside from that one incident, he appeared to be a model citizen coming out. He did charity work, spent a lot of time with a little girl who had leukemia, and doing things that you'd applaud most college athletes for taking their time to do. It really seemed to be a case of someone making one poor decision that they wouldn't make again, and that's the position he tried to portray it as, as well.

Over the offseason me and some friends have debated multiple times as to whether he would ever play in a Jaguars uniform again and I was a big supporter of his and how I believe he can tear it up in the slot...this ruins my opinion of him though, he had one job, to stay clean and couldn't do it. I wish he'd be cut today. I don't understand how this wouldn't embarrass the crap out of him.

Also recall some "on field" incidences of stupidity that i really didn't like at the time.

I wanted Jeffery. But everyone was all "no, he's too fat". Crying or Very sad

I wanted Blackmon or a trade back and to nab Chandler Jones + Jeffery. I guess I was 1/2 on that one.
