The Green Bay Packers are hopeful Clay Matthews will be able to play with the fractured thumb he suffered in Sunday's win against the Detroit Lions, a league source told ESPN.com. However, the source said Sunday evening that surgery has not been ruled out. If Matthews does need surgery, he could miss several games.

JayGlazer @JayGlazer

Clay Matthews' injury called a Bennett Fracture. Thumb needed to be stabilized with pins as it was dislocated. Pins out in 4 weeks and then probably some more time to heal.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that coach Mike McCarthy said that the team has ruled out linebacker Brad Jones for Week 6. Jones is suffering from a hamstring injury and McCarthy said there was no reason to think that hed be out of the lineup for an extended period of time. Jones has started all four games for the Packers this year and has recorded 29 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

For now, sounds like Packers WR Randall Cobb is expected to miss 2 weeks.

Packers WR James Jones sprained his PCL vs. Ravens but might be able to play Sunday vs. Clev. Team will make decision later this week.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter

so will Cobb be out for our matchup with them?

didn't take long for an update:

Wide receiver Randall Cobb suffered a fractured fibula in Green Bay's 19-17 win over the Baltimore Ravens and will miss 6-8 weeks, a source said Monday.

Nick Perry also broke his foot, so he'll join fellow OLB Matthews on the sideline, no timetable for his return set yet.

I think Packer fans are pretty used to this stuff at this point though, it's been basically a four season run of non stop injuries.

Wow, what is going on with all the injuries the Packers have suffered the last few seasons? You'd think Isildur cursed them or something.

It's because they don't have Kanavy (strength and conditioning) and Sugarman (trainer) on their team. Wink

Whatever it is, it's really annoying. But thankfully Cobb's isn't season-ending and the other guys are playing well.

In the secondary, House and Micah Hyde have done a nice job as the No. 3 and 4 CBs. Shields has been awesome, Williams meh.

Jamari Lattimore has been a beast alongside Hawk starting for an injured Brad Jones. Jarrett Boykin had 8/103/1 on 10 targets in his first start.

Hopefully Finley's injury isn't like Nick Collins' back in 2011. All it takes is one play.

Packers source on Aaron Rodgers: "It doesn't look good." MRI today. Swelling inhibited diagnosis.

Could he miss reg. season? "Possibly."
