It’s the colorful manner in which he defended him which is so fantastic. Asked if Capers deserved to keep his job, Greene was adamant.
Greene: “Does a fat baby fart? Big time. Absolutely. No doubt about it. He’s the same guy that took a defense from No. 24 to No. 5, or No. 2, then the Super Bowl year we’re No. 5. He’s the same guy. This is the same system. I mean, yeah, Dom is without a doubt the right guy. I think that’s about it there.”

Maybe that's a back handed way of saying the Capers' defense stinks. _________________

Packers defensive back Sam Shields can be had for a second-round draft pick. The Packers have placed the second-round tender on Shields, a restricted free agent.
That means any team that wants Shields can sign him to an offer sheet, and if the Packers don’t match it, that team would get Shields and the Packers would get that team’s second-round draft pick. More likely, however, he’ll stick with Green Bay: Restricted free agents don’t switch teams very often.

Veteran running back Steven Jackson is leaving the Rams after nine seasons. Though he could have returned at $7 million per year (if the Rams would have been willing to pay him), the Rams didn’t want to keep him as the workhorse tailback.
So Jackson will be playing elsewhere. Previous reports linked him to the Falcons. A league source with knowledge of the running back market tells PFT that the Packers are believed to be the current leaders to land Jackson’s services.

Citing a source who has been in contact with the Rams, @PackerReport says Steven Jackson is going to sign with the Packers.

I wouldn't be immensely surprised, but considering the Packers' history with RBs, I also wouldn't be surprised to see Jackson go down in game 2 for the rest of the season. He's got a lot of tread on his tires and is bound to break down with the way he plays. _________________

The Green Bay Packers want to lock up Aaron Rodgers to a long-term contract before the start of the 2013 season, and the deal presumably would make Rodgers the highest-paid player in the league. Rodgers currently is scheduled to make shy of $10 million-per-season on a contract that runs out after 2014. The Packers are making it clear they see Rodgers as underpaid and would rather get a new contract in place well before he enters a "contract year" like Joe Flacco did last season. It sounds like the Packers have the cash and the salary cap room to get a deal done.
The Packers also may "need" to sign Clay Matthews long-term, although it's possible Rodgers' contract will come first.

If they are going to extend Rodgers I hope they give him an absurd contract and make it difficult for them to sign or extend others. Pay him $40 million a year for all I care. _________________

Well, Rodgers will get 25 million if that makes you feel better. No doubt Rodgers, Mathews and Raji will cost a bundle and its why TT has saved a bunch of cash right now. TT does need to draft well in the upcoming years and last year was a very good draft. |

The top average salary is Flacco. #2 is Brees ($100K behind).
Just for the crazy factor, who has the highest base salary this year? Peyton Manning. But who's #2? Our own Jared Allen, at over $14.2M in the final year of his deal.
