Clay Matthews was ruled out by the Packers on Friday after missing the entire week of practice with the hamstring injury he’s been fighting since the Week Nine victory over the Cardinals. It’s not the first bout of hamstring troubles that Matthews has faced in his career, which is why coach Mike McCarthy said Friday that the team isn’t going to push him back into the lineup any sooner than he’s totally ready.

This will be interesting for the Packers, they clearly will need a pass rush to disrupt Eli Manning. Matthews will probably be ready to go against the Vikings in a week if i were to guess. |

The Packers and Ryan Grant have agreed to terms and the running back will sign with his old team this morning, per Grant.

Sources familiar with the Packers' thinking say the club not only wants to get rid of TE Jermichael Finley but has decided to do exactly that in the off-season. It means that if the Packers cannot find a trade partner, they are prepared to release Finley because of financial, competitive and behavioral reasons.
There is no way the Packers will pick up the second half of the two-year, $14 million contract they gave Finley in late February, according to sources.

Didn't he say he wanted to be paid like a WR? Finley seems to say a lot of outrageous stuff, and that may have been just smoke in the air (as in, more likely he just wanted to be paid like a top Tight End, than just a WR)
Greenbay is doing the right thing. He isn't worth it. They are putting too much money into a guy that does too little for them. Sound like someone we know?
He's still young, and he's probably really immature. Until he cleans up his act, his career as a starting Tight End will be, and should be in question. _________________

a post in the GB forum cited an analysis of him being the 5th highest paid TE, but producing as the 22nd best. _________________

Things have been going decidedly wrong for Packers kicker Mason Crosby for most of the year. He missed two field goals in Sunday’s 21-13 victory over the Bears, extending his streak to eight straight games with a missed field goal and dropping him to 17-of-29 on his attempts for the season. As you’d probably imagine, that’s the worst percentage in the league among qualified kickers by a large margin.
It isn’t enough for Crosby to lose his job, though. Just as he did last month, Packers coach Mike McCarthy has affirmed his support for Crosby in the mounting avalanche of missed kicks.
McCarthy: “We’re not changing our kicker, so you can write that down right now. He’s our guy. He needs to make those kicks. He knows that. We’re at that time of year.”

Jeff Saturday confirms he has been benched as the Packers starting center in favor of Evan Dietrich-Smith. Calls it a passing of the torch.

Three days after a historically pathetic performance by the Packers’ defense, Packers coach Mike McCarthy says that the man who runs the defense will be back in 2013, possibly to have another historically pathetic performance in the postseason. McCarthy told reporters on Tuesday that Dom Capers will be back. Sort of.
Via ESPN.com, McCarthy said that he is “very confident” Capers will return in 2013, but that McCarthy plans to evaluate everyone.
