I don't think Detroit has much depth on their roster, except WR. Looks like a weak unit overall.

The Lions are releasing OG Geoff Schwartz today. Schwartz is healthy, just got caught in a numbers game in Detroit.

The Lions got to today’s 75-man roster deadline, by parking a couple of guys who hadn’t practiced yet this season anyway. The Lions placed tight end Brandon Pettigrew and wide receiver Corey Fuller on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, which will keep them off the field for at least the first six weeks of the regular season.

The Vikings have a lot of bodies in the wide receivers’ room, and Isaac Fruechte was squeezed out. The former Gophers wide receiver has left the Vikings, after a year on the practice squad and a good showing this preseason, to be a part of the Lions practice squad.

The Lions also signed TE Brian Leonhardt to their practice squad, the team announced. He was in camp with the Vikings.

New Lions General Manager Bob Quinn identified punter Sam Martin as a player he wanted to extend, and now he has done so.

The Lions and Martin have agreed on a four-year extension, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Smart for them to lock him up now, because he's going to be on the field a lot this season. Laughing

i went to the Univ of Illinois and while i was there we had horrible, horrible football teams. one year we had a 0-11 record and another year we went 1-10.

one year the punter was the team's MVP.

My HS football team only won 2 games the entire 4 years I was there...both in my senior season.

Lions defensive end Ziggy Ansah suffered a high ankle sprain during Sunday’s loss to the Titans, NFL Network reported Monday. The report didn’t offer a timetable for Ansah’s return, but high ankle sprains can take several weeks — or even longer — to heal.

The Lions are signing wide receiver Aaron Dobson following a Tuesday workout, the Detroit Free Press reported.

No corresponding roster move was announced, and team has not officially announced the signing. Dobson, a second-round pick in 2013, was cut by the Patriots earlier this month. Last week, he worked out for the 49ers and Chargers.

The Lions have lost their top running back, as Ameer Abdullah has been placed on injured reserve with a foot injury suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Titans.

The IR designation means Abdullah will miss at least half the season. The league now allows teams to take one player off injured reserve and back on the 53-man roster eight weeks after he’s placed on injured reserve. It’s unknown yet whether the Lions plan to do that with Abdullah, or whether he’s done for the entire season.

Led by second-year running back Ameer Abdullah, the Lions’ run game got off to a promising start and averaged 126.5 yards through the first two weeks. But after Abdullah was placed on injured reserve following a foot injury in Week 2, the production has fallen off. With Theo Riddick taking over the No. 1 role, the Lions have mustered 50 and 66 yards rushing, respectively, in Weeks 3 and 4.

Theo Riddick has been ruled out due to an ankle injury he suffered in last week’s victory over the Eagles. Defensive end Ziggy Ansah is also questionable with an ankle injury. Ansah didn’t play the last three weeks, but has been practicing all this week.

The Lions will also be without tight end Eric Ebron, linebacker DeAndre Levy and defensive tackle Haloti Ngata.

The Lions won comfortably, for once. After trailing in the fourth quarter of their first 11 games, the Lions maintained a lead throughout the fourth quarter in New Orleans yesterday, improving to 8-4 in the process and firmly establishing themselves as the favorites in the NFC North. If the Lions beat the Bears at home next week and the Packers at home in Week 17, they’d clinch the division regardless of any other results the rest of the season.

They have a decent team. I think they've benefitted mainly because of our injuries. Better them than Green Bay!!

Yesterdays win surprised me a bit, but they still have a tough road. At New York, and at Dallas, and home to Green Bay. They'll beat Chicago but those other 3 games will be very difficult.
