The Chicago Bears apparently already have their sights set on a pair of soon-to-be free agents. In addition to interest in Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon, the Bears are also looking at one of the top cornerbacks set to hit the market. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears are expected to pursue Stephon Gilmore of the Buffalo Bills when free agency begins next week.

If the Bears sign Mike Glennon to starter money that will be a dream come true Laughing

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Bears and Alshon Jeffery’s agent had a “positive meeting” on Saturday about working out a new deal for Jeffery in Chicago. Per the report, both sides are “more than open” to finding common ground that would result in more of the same for the 2012 second-round pick.

I'm ready to see Alshon Jeffery just leave the NFC North.

The Bears and Mike Glennon appear to be on the verge of a deal that will make Glennon the team’s starting quarterback, at a salary that sounds like a lot but is lower than most starting quarterbacks make.

Glennon is expected to get a three-year deal with an annual average of $14.5 million, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. That puts Glennon’s total deal at $43.5 million, although there’s no word on how much of that is guaranteed and no other details about the structure of the contract.

The Bears added some size up front, giving a shot to a guy who could help their run defense. According to a tweet from his agent, veteran defensive tackle John Jenkins has agreed to terms with the Bears. Jenkins, a former third-round pick of the Saints, spent last year with the Seahawks. He played nine games there. Jenkins battled weight issues when he was in New Orleans, but could be a valuable member of a rotation in Chicago.

Ian Rapoport‏ @RapSheet
The #Bears are expected to sign former #Cowboys QB Mark Sanchez, source said. They are finalizing a deal. More depth to the QB room.

Good move for them. Little insurance on the back end of Glennon.

The Bears just released DT Ego Ferguson.

He would be worth bringing in to see what he can do in camp.

Would be interesting. Not much of a 3-tech. Does have experience tho at LSU.

The Bears announced Monday that they have released cornerback Tracy Porter, clearing $3.6 million in cap room.

Porter spent the last two seasons with the Bears and started 28 times over that span. He had 48 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble while playing in all 16 games for Chicago last season. Porter came into the league as a second-round pick of the Saints in 2008. He spent four years with the Saints and then spent a year each with the Broncos, Raiders and Redskins before landing with the Bears.

wasn't Porter the one who intercepted Favre late in the 2009 NFCCG, and then imitated Jared Allen's calf roping celebration...?

He definitely had the INT, not sure about the celebration.
