The Bears aren’t saying much about injuries, but they can’t deny the latest. According to Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com, a pair of key pass-catchers have been diagnosed with concussions.

Tight end Zach Miller and Eddie Royal will have to go through the league’s concussion protocol before they can return to training camp.

The Bears spent the offseason trying to rebuild their offensive line, and now may have a hole in the middle of it. According to the Chicago Tribune, Bears center Hroniss Grasu suffered a right knee injury during a non-contact portion of Saturday’s scrimmage and was carted off.

John Fox: “It happened right in front of me. I don’t know the extent of it. It looked fairly serious.”

The Bears have made the final roster moves needed to get the team to the 75-man limit on Tuesday and they are headlined by a pair of expected trips to injured reserve.

The team placed center Hroniss Grasu and quarterback Connor Shaw on I.R. due to injuries they suffered this summer. Grasu tore his ACL early in August, forcing the Bears to turn elsewhere for a starter in the middle of the offensive line after he held down the job down the stretch last season.

Shaw broke his leg against the Chiefs last week on a hit that he called “cheap BS” after the game. Coach John Fox said after the injury that he thinks Shaw has a bright future with the club and he’ll try to fulfill that expectation next year.

The Packers made guard Josh Sitton a free agent on Saturday. And he’ll now possibly use that freedom the same way Brett Favre did: By sticking it to the Packers twice per year. Sitton’s first official visit happens in Chicago, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Bears could be looking to upgrade at left guard over rookie Cody Whitehair, who is slated to replace Matt Slauson. The primary question surely will be whether the Bears will pay Sitton what he wants.

Pro Bowl guard Josh Sitton has signed a three-year deal with the Bears, according to Alex Marvez of Sporting News.

Sounds like this will move Whitehair to center.

The Bears suddenly have a very stout interior line.

LG - Sitton
C - Whitehair
RG - Long

Too bad for them that Cutler usually escaped outside. Has not feel for tight, interior pocket.

But I agree, Sitton is a beast. Packers are stupid to let him walk.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Bears are “preparing for a lengthy absence” for their starting quarterback after last night’s right thumb injury. They’re apparently debating the method of treatment now, whether he needs surgery to fix the injured thumb. Cutler left last night in a cast, and said he couldn’t grip the ball properly, which contributed to an interception.

thumb's down, we could say...

The Bears defense took several injury hits on Monday night.

Linebacker Lamarr Houston will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL for the second time in the last three years, linebacker Danny Trevathan is having thumb surgery and two defensive backs are in the concussion protocol. On top of that, they’ll reportedly be without defensive tackle Eddie Goldman for the next month.

many are already predicting CHI and CLE to be vying for the #1 pick next year.

Bears coach John Fox said on Tuesday that Cutler has a sprained right thumb and that the injury will not require him to have surgery in the immediate future. He called Cutler “day-to-day” in terms of the quarterback’s outlook for returning to action.

I don't think the Bears will be bad enough to get the #1 pick, but I certainly think they're easily headed for a top 10 pick. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Bills end up at #1. They are a team in chaos right now.

Too bad they're not playing each other this season. We could call it the Draft Bowl.

Bears running back Jeremy Langford is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after suffering an ankle injury Sunday night vs. the Cowboys, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday night. Langford started the first three games of the season and ran for a touchdown in each of the first two.

As if they didn’t have enough other problems, the Bears found themselves thin in the backfield with the injury to Jeremy Langford. They found a familiar face to fill the gap, signing former Lions running back Joique Bell, according to Joique Bell’s social media. The 30-year-old Bell had worked out for the Lions lately, but has a chance at a more immediate role with the Bears.
