Important Information
Tagging/Releasing Period

Sunday, February 17 until Tuesday, February 19.

This period includes pre-free agency preparation. During this period, each staff will look over their cap scenario and roster and decide who they'd like to tag and who they'd like to release before free agency.

If a team has already tagged or released a player in real life, that is counted in the FFMD as long as it happened until the day the tagging/releasing period started. Any “real world” transactions that occurred prior to this time will be reflected in the rosters for this draft. Any “real world” transactions that occur from this time forward will ignored.

Free Agency

Starts Tuesday, February 19.

More details will be released on free agency soon. They will be fully detailed tomorrow for sure, but may be released as soon as today. Keep checking back.

Pre-Draft

The Pre-Draft period begins as soon as FA ends and teams should also try and prepare for the draft once FA starts to whittle down to gain some preparation time.

For the purpose of this mock draft, NFL rosters are frozen as of the day the tagging/releasing period starts.

From this period onwards, you may:

-Set a draft board if they choose to.

-Decide whether or not they want to trade a certain pick or player and if they do, place that pick/player on the trade block (Trade Block thread willbe posted as soon as the first few staffs are finalized).

-Decide on drafting schemes- BPA, need, etc.

-Talk trades with other teams.

-Research draft prospects.

And more. Be creative and have fun with your ideas.p

We shall be getting the official roster and cap numbers by the end of the day. However, I figured I'd start the War Room and let us talk about this period since it starts tomorrow.

Lets begin by generating some neutral topics.

What's the consensus on Vilma and Pennington?

Personally, I believe we wait for the best offer, and don't offer them. We don't want to get low balled for either, especially Vilma. And, if no one presents a serviceable offer, we'll keep both.

I am against trading Vilma and Pennington at any time prior to the draft.

I would concur with that.

I think we should look to actively move both of them, but it's a situation where we can keep them both so we shouldn't even bother with low ball offers.

Vilma - early second at the worst as far as draft picks go. Proven 3-4 guys would be great, as well.

Chad - a fourth rounder, or a conditional '09 pick based on performance.

I feel when Free agency starts we need to make a strong push for a left guard or right tackle and whichever we don't get we grab in the draft.

We will need to consider who we really want to push in free agency.

Truth be told, we're gonna be able to push hard towards one top-tier free agent. Whether it be Samuel, Bell, Andrews or someone else, we'll need to decide that.

Just posted Offensive Plan in this thread's second post.

The reason I am against trading Vilma and Pennington is I dont want to have picks that are not existed in this mock game. Another reason, I strongly suggest to hold on Vilma and Pennington until after release/cut players are revealed so you can check out ILB or QB to spring Pennington and Vilma out.

I believe it is our job to make sure Vilma and Pennington are ACTUALLY expendable, not just dumping them for imaginable returnees.

oh forget to mention.

The roster will be frozen this Sunday so that means Tuiasosopo is not on the roster and Clement is.

Personally, I don't love any ILB prospect to replace Vilma in this draft, and I don't see anyone worth signing who is a definite improvement in this system. I wouldn't mind Goff, but other than him I have very little interest elsewhere. Therefore, I think we shouldnt part with him for anything less than an 1st or very early 2nd, or 2nd and 3rd rounders. Essentially, I would rather keep his experience inside and let Hobson or Barton walk personally, but mostly I cannot see a definite replacement for him anywhere.

quietjets, I'd like to make a strong push towards Bell and draft a RT. It's not very likely we sign a top-tier LG and RT the way FFMD works.

But, like you, I agree that Bell should be the big priority come free agency.

depend on what we gather via trade or FA. What if Jets fail to bolster defense with FA. I guess we have to wait for DC to voice his plan for defense.

Well, guys like Cherilus and Carl Nicks seem like viable options in the second round.
