Philadelphia Eagles Off-Season Prediction Contest - 2008

Howdy folks, and welcome to the battle for Eagles’ front office knowledge supremacy! In this contest, everyone will make the decisions based on what they believe the Eagles’ front office will attempt and accomplish. Below are scenarios that everyone will choose what they predict will happen. Afterwards, the poster who correctly chooses the most scenarios wins a special prize! The deadline has passed. No more entries will be accepted. Good luck to all!

NOTE: Once again, my wife will take part in this contest. Last year, she tied for second-to-last place. Therefore, as an extra risk, if anyone loses to her this year they will have to wear another "special" sig!

The numbers below represent the responses from all 22 entries. The numbers are percentages. The answers following in italics are my wife's answers. Remember, she is acting as the control. She has absolutely no football knowledge of this sort.

Part I – Roster Cuts
For the following players, choose either yes (they will be cut) or no (they will not be cut). Player retirements count as a no answer.

Okay folks, the deadline has passed, and I've presented the results in the first post. The answers in italics after the percentages are my wife's responses.

For those of you not around for (or forgot about) last year's contest, posters were wary of vying for the title of most knowledgeable Eagles poster, understandably claiming that a person could just guess the correct answers. Anyone who's entered into a company NCAA Basketball Tournament contest knows that it's most often the secretary who picked George Mason to go to the Final Four because she used to date a guy named George that wins, and not you and your meticulous studying of college basketball.

I therefore set up a test: my wife. My wife knows nothing about football. When I actually succeed in dragging her into the room to watch a football game, she spends the entire time rooting for the clock to wind down and complaining about how it stops for players going out of bounds and incomplete passes. I had her fill out an entry, and she did poorly. Very poorly. However, she did actually manage to beat out one of the 26 contestants. Therefore, for this year I am making this more of a challenge. If you win, you get a special signature proclaiming you the most knowledgeable Eagles poster in the forum. However, if you lose to my wife, you have to wear a special signature proclaiming that you know less about the Eagles than my wife!

To give you an idea of the sheer level of shame that this should accompany, every single one of the 22 contestants predicted that the Eagles would not attempt to re-sign Kimo von Oelhoffen. My wife predicted that the Eagles would because she so thoroughly enjoyed the sound of the name. The day after I had her fill out an entry, she asked me for the name again and spent the next 30 seconds laughing. Think about losing to that!
