no reason to rush into extending him now. id rather see what some of the young DTs like Guion and Ballard have. If both of those players show enough promise, KW will no longer be needed.
As for his contract, its very odd, since everywhere (especially Rotoworld) reported that KW had the option, but maybe the team never exercised it?
Anyway, im glad he is in the last year of his deal rather than having to pay him that bonus money he was suppose to get. I see this being his last season in MN, not much incentive for him to hang around a poor team at this point in his career. Heck, id even trade him now if a team came calling. |
If we have another rough season we could be looking at taking the best DT available in the draft, then tag Williams and trade him?

Those of us who only vaguely understand the subtle differences in the rules between Canadian football and American football can be pleasantly surprised to watch CFL highlights like this one, which shows Calgary Stampeders receiver Larry Taylor doing something that no NFL player will ever do.
Taylor scored a touchdown on a 125-yard return on Saturday, an accomplishment impossible in American football. Taylor caught a missed field goal 15 yards deep in the end zone (CFL end zones are 20 yards deep) and ran it back 125 yards for a touchdown — the CFL field is 110 yards long, 10 yards longer than the NFL field from goal line to goal line. Long plays like that one are a specialty of Taylor’s; he had a 122-yard return last year that was the CFL’s longest play of 2011.

WR Mike Wallace is not reporting for the start of training camp, and the Steelers’ response will be to suspend negotiations on a long-term contract, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
According to Bouchette, the Steelers are willing to let Wallace make the decision of whether he’ll sign his one-year, $2.7 million restricted free agent tender or stay away. If those are his two choices, Wallace will surely take option B, at least for now. Wallace only has to sign the tender by Week One to get his full base salary.

The end zones used to be 25 yards but they changed the rule because a lot of stadiums couldn't fit a regulation field.
The other thing to remember is that Canadian rules football awards a point for a missed FG or punt that is not brought out of the end zone, which is why you often see players run the ball out.

I'm tracking my own personal NFL Power Poll...I won't post it every week, but will try to post it after every quarter of the season (i.e. prior to Weeks 5, 9, 13, and playoffs). I used to run a forum power poll in the Comparisons Forum, but found that to be too much work (and I have significantly less time to do that kind of stuff now). Here is my poll prior to Week 1. It's a long season and the 49ers are going to have their ups and downs like all the other teams.
However, this was a huge loss for the Packers because they're effectively two games behind the 49ers in the conference standings and the Packers have a tougher schedule.
