NFL teams, for the first time, equally divided more than $6 billion in revenue last season.

That's according to financials released by the Green Bay Packers on Thursday afternoon.

The Packers said they received $187.7 million in national revenue, which is mostly derived from the league's television rights. The Packers' total represents 3.1 percent, or 1/32nd, of the overall pie.

Zygi and Mark are raking in the dough...and good for the Packers, as their profit margin went down. Laughing

Seattle still has about $7M in space, so they'd be able to figure out a way to manipulate the numbers and make it work. The question is whether they would want to push the contract back further, considering all the free agents that will come up in 2016 (which also is the last year of Johnson's deal), which include Marshawn, Bruce Irvin, Russell Okung, Bobby Wagner, and the big one, Russell Wilson (who certainly is going to want to make up for being such a tremendous bargain the last few years).

Russell and Okung are the only too lockables. Resign Russell and tag Okung.

The rest are replaceable.

Marshawn will be 30 by then and with the way he runs (so physical) he could see his production drop. Although RBs aren't making very high salaries...

In a break from tradition, the NFL wont hold the draft in New York next year.

Commissioner Roger Goodell indicated Thursday the league will choose between Los Angeles or Chicago as a host site for the 2015 NFL Draft, according to Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times.

It'll probably be in LA, but if those are the 2 choices, I'd certainly prefer it to be in a city that actually houses a NFL team. Quit catering to a town that lost 2 teams and really doesn't care if they get another.

if it were in Chicago, I think I would have to make the journey. I have always wanted to go, but with the distance to New York from Minnesota made it too difficult

You might be onto something there....

Hmmm, if the draft is in L.A. I may have to take the trip down from the Bay Area.

In a surprise move, one of the NFLs best players has reportedly decided not to report to training camp. Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles will not show up when the Chiefs report to camp on Thursday. Charles is holding out for more money, KCTV-5 reports.

Charles still has two more years left on his contract and is due $3.9 million this year. Hes correct if he thinks hes a lot better than a lot of players who are making more money than him, but the Chiefs may feel that they have no reason to give more money to a player who is under contract through 2015.

Pure speculation on my part, but it's probably not about the money...it's about saving himself for the regular season.

And then there was one.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the Browns agreed to their deal with first-rounder Justin Gilbert today, getting the cornerback under contract before camp opens. That leaves just Titans first-rounder Taylor Lewan as the only unsigned pick league-wide.

It shouldn't come as a surprise since the Lewan pick was probably the most confusing of any pick in the draft, even moreso than the Dolphins' pick.

This is an interesting article to read about offensive line coaches and what they have to go through.

Justin Blackmon, the talented but troubled Jaguars receiver who is currently serving an indefinite suspension for substance-abuse violations, has been arrested again. Blackmon was arrested for possession of marijuana Wednesday night in Edmond, Oklahoma, according to Channel 6 News in Tulsa.

Jaguars owner Shad Khan said hes not about to release his former first round pick, who has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL and was arrested for marijuana possession last night.

Khan: We want him to get help he needs.

The Seahawks managed to coax running back Marshawn Lynch to show up for a mandatory minicamp amid concerns he would hold out. Now, Lynch wont be showing up for training camp and will hold out. The move comes a day after the Chiefs bumped the 2014 pay of Jamaal Charles from $3.9 million to $8.3 million, via a two-year extension that puts him under contract for four years, $28 million.

The move exposes Lynch to $30,000 per day in fines, along with (after five days) partial forfeiture of his $6 million signing bonus. In 2012, Lynch signed a four-year, $30 million contract. Hes due to earn $5.5 million in 2014, with a cap number of $7 million.
