It appears Minnesota Vikings assistant general manager George Paton is in demand again. Fox's Jay Glazer reported on Saturday that the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns both want to interview Paton for their vacant general manager jobs.
Paton, long the right-hand man of Vikings GM Rick Spielman, pulled out of the running for the St. Louis Rams' GM job last year to accept a promotion. He is in his sixth season with the Vikings.

2007 7th round Minnesota Vikings draft pick Chandler Williams died during a flag football tournament yesterday in Miami. After being cut by the Vikings after training camp in 2007, Williams spent time with the Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, and Kansas City Chiefs before moving on to the CFL's Toronto Argonauts. Chandler Williams was a current member of the AFL's Tampa Bay Storm. The suspected cause of death for the 27 year old is an undiagnosed heart condition. RIP young man. _________________

3rd round - Houston (1)
4th round - Oakland (1), Baltimore (1), Green Bay (1), Detroit (1)
5th round - Atlants (1), Baltimore (1), San Francisco (1)
6th round - Baltimore* (2), Carolina (2), Houston (3), Oakland (3), Miami (1)
7th round - Arizona, Atlanta, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Green Bay, Jacksonville, Miami, Tennesse, Pittsburg all get 1; and Philly and KC both get 2
* Baltimore should have recived a 4th, 5th, 6th and 2 7th, but since a team can only recieve 4 picks, the NFL adds the 2 7ths and makes them 1 6th.

In other words, the Carlson signing really hosed us, right? _________________ "No one can disguise mediocrity better than Bill Belichick." |

Even without that signing, the Vikings didnt lose any free agents of note. Released players dont count.
The Carlson signing hosed us because he is dreadful, is injury prone and signed a ridiculous contract. |

The Browns would be a more attractive short-term position for Paton, since he would likely be hired before a new head coach is brought in and be involved in that process after Oregon head coach Chip Kelly turned down overtures from Cleveland and Philadelphia to remain head coach for the Ducks. In Carolina, the Panthers announced that head coach Ron Rivera will return in 2013, which could create something of a power struggle with his staff in place and Paton potentially taking over a team that already has a power structure in place and a head coach more familiar with the personnel than the new general manager would have.
At this point, Paton looks to be the most likely to leave for a new job elsewhere. His name has surfaced in the past as a potential G.M. candidate elsewhere and some believe it will only be a matter of time before he lands with a new organization. In the case of Priefer and Singletary, it is expected that, unless they wow the Chicago brass in interviews, that they aren’t on the top of the list of head coaching candidates.

I'm surprised this hasn't shown up in the Where are they now thread? or this thread, but Ryan Longwell has signed with the Seahawks after winning a tryout competition. _________________

Singletary helps with the linebackers and is special assistant to the head coach. _________________

The final diagnosis appears to be in for Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.
According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Griffin will undergo “total reconstruction” surgery early Wednesday morning to repair complete tears to his ACL and LCL. Dr. James Andrews will perform the surgery and he is expected to miss six to eight months.
