Offensive MVP: Andre Johnson, WR
Deffensive MVP: Dunta Robinson, CB
Breakthrough Player: Jason Babin, OLB
The Texans hope Babin can develop into the pass-rushing linebacker they've needed in rescent sesons.
Position Battle: WR: Corey Bradford vs. Jabar Gaffney
Bradford is the burner; Gaffney is skilled on shorter routes. The Texans need better play opposite Andre Johnson. _________________

Not too much to really debate about with all that, because most of those picks are fairly standard answers. I'll give my own views though (not necessarily what I would 100% think but more something to stir debate).
Offensive MVP - Andre Johnson
This will be Andre's breakout year where he really establishes himself as one of the premier targets in the NFL.
Defensive MVP - Phillip Buchanon
While this might seem strange, I really think it could be true. Offenses are going to be avoiding throwing the ball Dunta's way this year and that could allow Buchanon to really step up and make some plays. With his penchant for taking chances he may get burned from time to time, but I think he will also have a number of interceptions and return at least 2 of those for touchdowns. It also sounds like he has matured and is growing as a player since he has come to Houston.
Breakout player - Jason Babin
I agree on Babin, I think he'll really come into his own this year. It usually takes about a year to become comfortable in a new role like that.
Position battle - Mark Bruener vs. Billy Miller
Shouldn't even be a battle if Bennie Joppru could stay on the field, but I think these two will battle it out all year for the position. Bruener is the better blocker but Miller is the better pass-catcher. It will be interesting to see. |
