Joel Filani, member of the Vikings 2007 practice squad and recently cut by the Vikings, was signed by the Seahawks.

| Quote: | Browns defensive back Kenny Wright's April 3 arrest in Pearland, Texas, was not his first offseason brush with the law.
Brazoria County (Texas) District Attorney Jeri Yenne said Tuesday that Wright already had a marijuana'-possession charge pending when he was picked up last month in Pearland, a Houston suburb. |
Another former Viking that's a true winner. (sarcasm intended)

Former Viking Brian Williams spent the Jacksonville minicamp playing at cornerback, but the team is expected to move him to safety this summer during the preseason.
The Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL are apparently raving about former Viking Kelly Campbell, who is trying to make the roster after finding no interest from NFL teams. A story in the Edmonton Sun claims the team was looking at Campbell as far back as his college days and are happy to finally have him.

| Quote: | J.T. O'Sullivan, the surprise contender in the 49ers' quarterback derby, was inducted into the UC-Davis Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday. During the presentation his former coach said that O'Sullivan played with a confidence "that some people might call arrogance."
O'Sullivan hopes to pick up today where he left off at the end of the 49ers' first mini-camp, after which Coach Mike Nolan and offensive coordinator Mike Martz declared him squarely in the race for the starting job with Alex Smith and Shaun Hill.
In fact, Nolan said that the emergence of O'Sullivan as a legitimate third contender was the biggest revelation of camp.

for those that get it, it's probably one of the most creative remarks I've ever read. |

they had many, many successful seasons, they were due for some trouble eventually. |

I think the "due" part ended about 5 years ago. The 49ers are just a bad franchise now. _________________

ESPN.com’s football blog reports Troy Williamson made several nice catches today in the Jaguars first day of minicamp. Sounds like former Vikings Ciatrick Fason (running back) and Ryan Hoag (receiver) are trying out for the Jaguars.

I wonder if Ryan Hoag is getting a hard time from the team for being on the Bachlorette....
Nice to see Troy is showing some signs of being decent. I wish the best for him but this is only minicamp so I don't know how much stock we can put into it. _________________

Here's a tidbit on Viking Update about some former Vikings assistant coaches:
| John Holler from Scout.com wrote: | | ESPN did a recent story on assistant coaches who are the most deserving of acclaim. Among them, the top two were former Vikings assistants – Tom Moore and Monte Kiffin. Both assistants under Dennis Green, Moore has gone on to have a long-term relationship with Indianapolis and Tony Dungy, and Kiffin has been the defensive coordinator with Tampa Bay since Dungy landed there following his hiring away from Minnesota. Since neither of them would appear to have head coaching aspirations, their praise comes with a hearty handshake rather than questions of when they will bolt their current situation for another team. |

Former Viking Tank Williams spent part of his minicamp with the Patriots playing linebacker. While there is little chance of Williams actually playing linebacker, coach Bill Belichick loves players that can play different positions and Williams got rave reviews.
Things haven’t been as promising for former Viking Napoleon Harris, who doesn’t seem to be as excited about being a Kansas City Chief. Harris turned some heads in a different way at Chiefs minicamp. When asked if he’s a happy employee, Harris said with a dead-serious tone, “I play for the Kansas City Chiefs” – a comment that wasn’t very well received in the Kansas City media.
