Auburn defensive tackle Pat Sims is entering early.

http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2008/01/pat_sims_leaving_auburn_early.html

He's one of those guys who could have skyrocketed next year, but has decided to test the waters with a fairly weak defensive tackles class (behind Dorsey and Ellis).

Thoughts or comments?

definitely intersting. in the one game i saw he looked ok but not explosive or devastating stopping the run. ive yet to evaluate their bowl game, so ill rserve judgement but the dominoes just continue to fall. they can just smell the millions and its too much to pass up. i dont think his stock would improve much by going back. he had a good year from what i understand and its hard for dts to put up the huge #'s that really skyrocket stock and hes not a physical freak.

That's big. He's a playmaker.

This draft surely has a lot of quality players, at most positions.

I really like him.

He needs to work on a few things but he has a lot of potential. With a good pre draft workouts/interviews he could become a top 10 pick IMO.

Sometimes he looked unstoppable, sometimes he seemed pretty average. Like most defensive tackle prospects, if a team can coach him up and motivate him to play with a high motor all the time he could be a very disruptive player. This year's DT class is not especially strong, so I think it's a good decision on his part.

He is a beast. I rank him as the 2nd best DT in this class after Dorsey.

He's a great player but i think Ellis will get drafted before Sims, USC players always get taken because there NFL ready talent with Pete Carroll as their coach and his great staff

He is still very Raw, but he is very talented. I think as if right now, he is the 3rd DT in the Draft.

He certainly looked impressive in the Bowl game. Very good quickness and explosiveness.

I think he would have benefited by coming back for another year. He is still raw and even though he has a ton of potential, he is still somewhat unproven. He had one good year, but if he were to have come back and stepped up his game another notch and prove what he has to offer to the NFL, he could have definitely been a top 10 pick. Now, unless the "Green Bay Packers" draft a "Justin Harrell" I don't see him going in the top 20. It's possible, depending on interviews and pre draft performances, but he could have made a mistake by declaring early.......on the other hand, if I were a 1st round talent.........I'd be gone.

First Kevin Smith, now Sims? He woulda been a sure top 10 pick next year if he stayed. He's a potential first rounder this year, wih a good combine he should be a definite first rounder. Is anyone going to stay in school; if so many players keep entering, think of how boring the draft will be next year. Sad

Why the hell do you think these kids play? Honestly. They play to play in the league. Thats it. They don't care about some dopey college award or championship. Thats all a crock. These kids want to take care of their families and themselves. They can't do that in college. Nobody gives a damn about somes SEC championship or some made up championship like the BCS. Honestly, I wonder if JaMarcus Russell really cares that he didn't stay for the national championship run.

Hmm.......$60+ million dollars or a college championship. Tough decision. Rolling Eyes
