Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that David Garrard has been named the starter for the Jags and that Byron Leftwich is likely to be released or traded.
Wow.
No link, the news just broke on NFL Live a minute ago. The Jags are expected to make an official announcement later tonight.

If this is true then I have lost all respect for JDR as a head coach since he reiterated time and time again Byron was the starter. I sincerely hope the report id fale, but if it's not, I pray they didn't make the decision based on a couple preseason games where Garrard beat up on some second stringers.
If this is indeed true, I say again I lose all my respect for JDR and the FO. Garrard proved last season he was not capable of being a starter. _________________

You enjoy having a QB that singlehandedly loses games? _________________

Wow! This is pretty huge news. I'm speechless. David Garrard is a good backup, perhaps one of the best in the league. I think he'll do fine. I'm surprised they have just gave up on Leftwich so soon. I think they should keep him around. I mean he's a good player. I wonder where he goes. The Chiefs? _________________ Adopt-a-Ram: Brian Quick - 11 receptions, 156 yards, 2 TDs |

I hate to be the first one to say this.... but maybe they should have pulled the trigger on Brady Quinn. I have never been very impressed with Garrard. I can't imagine that he is in Jacksonville's long term QB plans. _________________

yeah i was watching when they reported that..well Garrard gives you the legs but dosent give them the passing game they need. So i they should go into the draft looking for a QB..
i dont know where Byron will end up.. |

Wow I am a extremely shocked if this is true. I was a huge Byron supporter. Hopefully he gets a shot elsewhere.

what the heck?
no way in hell i want David Garrard leading this team, the guy needs to learn how to read defenses before he can take the rings of being a starting QB in this league
in the Titans game, he stared down Reggie Williams, Pacman saw it then he stepped in front of Garrard pass and took it back to the house, then Garard stared down Ernest Wilford, Chris Hope saw that, he stepped in front of the pass and took it back for the TD. Then against Kansas City, he attempted a screen pass to Reggie Williams, Ty Law saw it and intercepted it and allmost returned it for a TD. those are examples of him not staring off the DB, he wont be successful til he learns to read defenses
people say Garrard gives us a better chance of winning because he can move, i would no doubt have a guy that can read defenses and not be able to move then a guy that can move and not be able to read defenses
i feel more safer with Leftwich as our starting QB as Leftwich is more fitted for Koetters down field passing attack
i will respect the decision the organization makes, am i happy with the move...no, but am i gonna have to support the decision...yes

| I'm thinking he'll end up in Atlanta. I could see Tampa Bay making a play for him as well. |

Yep. Atlanta may give up one of their second-rounders for him, and it would be a good idea. Leftwich has a ton of potential, and I don't know why, but it just never clicked with the Jaguars. I think he can still be a very good NFL starter, and he's young. I don't know why Jacksonville is doing this, but it just makes no sense to me. _________________
