| Quote: | | TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals released punter Scott Player, the team's longest-tenured veteran in both seasons and games played. |
| Quote: | | Player will be replaced by Mike Barr, picked up on a waiver claim Tuesday. Barr was released Monday by Pittsburgh. The 28-year-old Barr has never appeared in an NFL regular-season game. |

I don't think this is a good move at all. PLayer is still a very good punter, even though he is pretty old. And how are they going to replace him with a guy who has never even played a regular season game. Do any of you think he will be picked up by a team?

Its not a shock to the system I mean hes an above-average punter...he was one of the better ones but lost a little last year and I dont know if anyone needs a punter that much ot even sign him? _________________

Not really as big of a deal as the thread starter made it out to be...News but nothing shocking and definitely not a huge loss. _________________

To some it may be shocking considering he's been in the NFL since the Stone Age. I just couldn't stand that goofy looking helmet he had _________________

| I am a little surprised actually since he average 44.9 yards per kick last year, the best he ever had in his career (6th best in the NFL last year). But he only put 27.9% of his kicks inside the 20 yard line (23rd in NFL) and only 4.5% went back for touchbacks (29th in NFL). So although he booted the ball fairly well, he didnt seem to be able to back the other team up nearly enough. Long tenured and all, but hardly a top of the line punter being released, especially at the age of 37. |

Excellent observation and the reason he was cut. This has been talked about. His inability to pin the opposing teams deep in the end. My only problem is i don't know the guy we picked up. Have to trust the coaches on this one. |

Mike Barr has a big leg.
He has been in the Steelers training camp the last few years.
Many Steelers fans wanted him over Gardocki last year... _________________
