|
| TMZ wrote: | Former USC great, NFL flop, and not-that-bad Arena Football star Todd Marinovich was arrested this weekend after cops say he was hiding almost a gram of methamphetamine, a syringe and a spoon in his guitar case.
According to sources, 38-year-old Marinovich was skateboarding near the Newport Pier in Orange County -- where boarding is strictly prohibited -- when police approached him. Cops say a frightened Marinovich then took off, leading them on a short chase. Cops caught up with the former QB, who was never much of a scrambler, hiding in a carport six blocks away. |

I'm not gonna make any excuses for Marinovich but this breaks my heart. Since he was an infant, his father was grooming him to be an NFL QB. He had every aspect of his life controlled and I believe it led to his drug use.
I am a football fanatic and I hope my kids want to play ball, just like their old man. But this should be a wakeup call to parents. You can't build a successful "test tube QB." You have to let your kids be kids. _________________

| That's unfortunate because I was hoping the Broncos would sign him. |

What's wrong with skateboarding? I hope I'm still able to use the thing for transportation when I'm that old, even if I can't do any tricks. It's a better workout than, say fantasy football. _________________ Every player that is going to be drafted ever is a bust. You heard it here first, folks. |

At some point you have to become accountable for yourself and blaming your mean daddy doesn't cut it anymore. I know because I've been their. He is 38 and he knows doing drugs is wrong. I think the worst thing we do to our children is teach them they are better than everone else and if they excel at something we don't hold them accountable to themselves and other people. _________________

Agreed. At some point you have to stop blaming other people and put it on the person and if 38 years old isn't that point then I don't know when it would be. My best friend's dad had him involved in literally every sport he could fit into his schedule as a kid and when he wasn't eating, sleeping, or at school he was playing some kind of sport. He doesn't use any drugs (I don't count weed ) nor does he skateboard where he isn't allowed. _________________

I was hoping someone would say this. I mean the DAD could have been a deadbeat, at least he was involved in his life. At some point you have to be accountable for your actions. _________________

Now, imagine, it's 1:30 AM. Todd Marinovich is skateboarding with his guitarcase full of syringes and spoons. _________________
