Why do people say he's over-rated? Has he ever been in an offense that would give him opportunities to make plays? _________________

I'm hearing reports to the contrary. The Miami Herald reports that Chris Chambers is NOT on the trading block. _________________

The Miami Herald reports that Chris Chambers will remain a Dolphin this season.
The paper confirms that the Dolphins did gauge league interest in the veteran, but have "no imminent plans" to trade him or cut him, despite his high salary. _________________

Interesting, probably because of the trouble he got in.
However, I don't think he's going anywhere. |

Chambers is a good player. I don't really think he's that overrated because I don't really see people mentioning him with the likes of Torry Holt, Marvin Harrison, Chad Johnson, etc. People mention him as a good/solid WR, which he is. Chambers can make the tough catches and has some good hands. I'd take him. _________________

I think Chambers would be a mildly hot commodity if his cap figure wasn't prohibitive. His base salary, as I understand it, is 5.4 million this year. His pro-rated signing bonus is 1.9 million, making his cap hit to the Dolphins of roughly 7.3 million. To any team that wanted him, they would have to assume his 5.4 million base.
Simply put, he is not worth that much to our team or probably any other. Especially when you examine his inconsistent hands. He is signed through 2009 and my guess is he could either become a cap casualty, or he could be traded to a team with more room for his inflated contract. The more likely scenario is that he goes the way of Randy McMichael, and is cut by Miami either before the start of this season, or at the end of it. _________________ "22 players are involved in every football play. No imminent plans means that everyone else realized that he isn't good at all, and so no one offered anything worthy for him, or at least nothing that Miami thought they could get.
I wouldnt be surprised if Chambers name surfaces around draft day and he gets a pick traded for him, at a more need-driven time. _________________

I disagree. Plaxico has shown more consistency and production then Chambers. I believe Chambers is worth a 3rd, but I certainly could understand why teams feel he is worth a 4th. I wouldn't trade him for a 4th. He is worth more to the Dolphins on their roster rather then giving him away for a 4th. But maybe that is my biasness coming out.
On the bright side of it the Fins would get back their 4th rounder (possibly 5th) that they gave to KC for Trent Green. Sometimes it makes more sense to hold onto a player because his value is worth more to the team then it would be in the market. For example, Zach Thomas doesn't command anything if traded (maybe a 5th) but he gives the Fins production.

Are you kidding me BigBen?
Your talking about the same reciever who has never played with an good QB let alone an average one. Hes never had a consistent QB. Not too mention he put up decent numbers when Miami was going through that QB situation when Jay Fiedler was being rotated as the starting QB like a DE.

Chambers has a knack for dropping easy passes(eight drops last season) and his pay reflects top reciever billing. I would say that makes him overrated since he was clearly outperformed by Marty Booker last season and has been so far this offseason and preseason. _________________
