Anyone interested in Kwame? |
No.
This isn't a huge surprise. I thought 2007 was one of the better classes of OTs to come out in recent years. Because of the Tarik Glenn retirement we may have as many as 4 rookie LTs starting for their teams this year - Thomas, Brown, Ugoh and now Staley. _________________ big_palooka:

Jared Gaither might even start at LT if JO isn't ready for week 1. _________________

Predictable, I still think he wasn't worth another 1st, but we'll see. _________________

The 49ers gave only 20 players first round grades and he was one of them.
And this from Adam Schefter:
| Quote: | | There even are those around the league who believe that, over time, Staley will turn out to be the top offensive tackle from the Class of 2007, even better than Joe Thomas or Levi Brown. Whether or not he is is secondary. For now, the 49ers know they’ve hit on the pick. |

Isnt he a great run blocker, but struggles vs speed rushers? Why not move him inside to guard? Does he have the size for that? _________________

We have attempted this and it failed misserably. Kwame is a great run blocker but has no idea what to do when it somes to pass coverage. His feet are terrible and he is very weak for an offesnive tackle. I also thought we should've moved him to G but he didn't translate very well to the position and thus the draft selection of Joe Staley our new RT _________________

Exactly. He gets a lot of holding calls against him because he gets beat by the speed rushers, but we have also seen where he tries to set up against the speed rushers and gets bulled over straight on his back.
Its amazing that for how bad he is at pass blocking, he is the complete opposite in run blocking. Now if we could only find a way to slip Kwame in only when we are going to hand the ball off to Gore, and not have the defense notice he is there, and then back on the sideline when we are going to pass |

I suppose you could use Kwame as a TE on short yardage and goalline situations. Who knows, maybe he can even catch a pass or two catching the other team completely off guard. _________________

If he can hold a football half as well as he can hold a DE, then maybe we have something there |

He would be a pro bowler in his first season _________________
