According to Peter King, Russel does not want to play for the Raiders.
The $31M guaranteed contract that he is refusing/ declining to sign is not due to money, but because of the offensive woes the Raiders are enduring as well as the fact they recently signed Culpepper.
Not sure how much of this I believe, Russel did just buy a mansion in the Oakland hills last week and he/ his agent met with the Raiders two days ago.
Peter King isn't one to write fluff for the sake of it, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Mod Edit: Please remember to post a link with the story.

I wouldn't blame him. The guy would get sacked like 5 times a game. No one wants to go through that. I could possibly see him pulling an Eli and get traded. Mabye Atlanta or even Jacksonville. _________________

Hmmm. This is very interesting. Hypotheically..... does he get drafted before Brian Brohm if he sits out until next draft? _________________

This isn't news. This is just Peter King and his anti-Raider agenda with no quotes from JaMarcus, Eric Metz, or the Raiders. This is the first I've heard of this, and it sounds like one man's opinion. _________________

| I would think that if Russell didn't want to play for Oakland than we would've known a long time ago. If he didn't want to play for them than he probably would've done what Eli did back in the 2004 NFL Draft and cry for a trade. |

Of course not. Sitting a whole year doesn't help either. I would draft him in the second at the highest. _________________

Oakland would definitely trade his rights away well before he could re-enter the draft.
Who would take him though? Or his contract? _________________

Atlanta would be a candidate. Tampa Bay could also groom him. Plenty of teams would love a chance to get Russell, even at #1 overall money, but I don't think there's any chance Oakland doesn't keep him. They'll sign him no matter what it takes just to avoid complete embarrassment. _________________

I had afeeling he didn't want to. This is probably a main reason for his holdout. And bringing in Culpepper didn't make him any happier. _________________

They have a surplus of draft picks from the Matt Schaub deal. _________________

I agree, there is no way the Raiders dont sign there QB. He is the face of that franchise now, and he will get signed by any means necessary. _________________
