What can you guys tell me about David Gibbs? He coached the Broncos safties and secondary from 2001-04 and is now the D coordinator at Auburn. I don't know much about him and was hoping you guys could help me out. I hope Tubberville found another hidden gem like he did in Al Borges.
Here's a link for Gibbs.

To be honest, he didn't have a lot of success in Denver. Denver's d-backs have struggled to create turnovers under him, and he was also instrumental in drafting the disappointing Willie Middlebrooks, if I recall. Think he was with Minnesota (NCAA) before Denver. He's the son of famed o-line coach Alex Gibbs, who is now part-time in Atlanta. I don't know if he shares his father's super-intense, in-your-face coaching style.

Thanks for the help man. Although now I'm worried lol. After Gene Chizick (former D coordinator) bolted for Texas right in the middle of recruiting season the people here at AU were not happy at all. Maybe Tuberville sees something in him that others didn't. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
BTW, Is Joe Gibbs his grandfather? |

Also didn't leave Denver on the best terms. Essentially he was fired for insubordination. During Atlanta game, Shanahan wanted Bailey to cover Peerless Price on some plays. Gibbs alledgedly disregarded instructions and had Herndon covering Price on plays which resulted in 2 of Atlanta's TDs. Hopefully, Gibbs has learned his lesson. _________________ bronco por vida |
