They can't cut Woods without cap consideration. Don't re-sign Fujita. He is an average player, not worth the cap. Everything else looks good. They'll look to get a punter in FA too.

In FA, go for MLB Kendrell Bell. He's a heck of a player not to mention pretty young. If you don't trade for Surtain or Madison, look at Fred Smoot or Ken Lucas in FA.

Also, Baltimore has a WR who is going to be an UFA, Travis Taylor. He's not a big name guy, but he's a pretty decent player and if you can't find anyone else go for him.

i only say cut woods if his injury forces retirement.
the reason i think we need to keep fujita is because we have too many needs.
barber is hurt, and we need a MLB. that plus a DE and CB's means we wont have enough money to fill in another LB spot.
fujita along with bell and someone else would be nice.
baxter from BAL is another CB to consider i think.

we can fill that other LB spot from within . .we have Beisel and Keyaron Fox. Fox should be promoted this year to Fujita's spot .. he fast . . rangy . . and was a playmaker in college. he was our 3rd pick this past draft. As Vermiel would say "time to take off the diaper" lol

anyway . . speed is the biggest need for this defense

fujita is the fastest starter we have when compared to barber and beisel.
fox had a great chance to move up this year and if he cant start over fred jones and quintin caver how will he start over fujita.
fox has been good on special teams and i like his potential, but i havent seen enough of him to start him over scott.
the chiefs need a mlb thats a leader, and maybe a LB out of the draft.
most likely, with derrick johnson being gone and brooks not declaring, they will go corner, either justin miller or carlos rogers, either of which i would be happy with.
they should draft DE in round 2, but with tuck not coming out the depth in DE in the 2nd round goes down.
that leaves a corner and mlb in FA, and they cant replace every LB.
i am not saying fujita is a probowler, but with kendrell bell and barber or someone else, thats a decent LB core.
scott led the team in tackles and 2nd in sacks.
now of course somebody has to lead the team in tackles, and being the only one healthy all year it makes sense, but i am not ready to get rid of him yet, not as much because i like him, more because i dont feel comfortable with who will replace him.
gunther could make him something, and it wont cost much to keep him.

its just like the kawika mitchell situation, he has potential, but if we can get bell then we need to.
if there is somebody available to replace fujita then fine, but fox hasnt proved anything yet.

i agree fox has proved nothing. . as for why he didnt start over the guys yopu mentioned . . he's a strongside LB. that position was not open all year (Fujita). could they have tried him ? probably

yeah i know.
but as we both know, fred jones is nothing more then a special teamer.
i would have liked to have seen fox there once the playoffs were out of the question.

We all know how Vermeil likes to stick with his vets though...look how long it took for him to get Samie Parker on the field. Of course, the coaches know more about these players than we do, but what did we have to lose by getting Fox some experience?

fred jones is no verteran.
but parker should have seen more action, although to be fair to vermeil he was hurt.

Like mh said Travis Taylor is worth a look. The Ravens are terrible with receivers, and he could be a nice starter on another team.

Also, if you don't get Derrick Johnson then Tommy Polley of the Rams is a promising linebacker on a bad defence.

That's like saying Saddam Hussein is a nice guy compared to Attila the Hun or Adolph Hitler. Big Deal. They all stink.

I agree COMPLETELY. I say throw Julian Battle in that mix too. How much worse could he be than McCleon or Bartee were? Opposing teams treated Warfield like he was Deion Sanders because the other side was too damn easy! PT might have helped him for next year, even if he got torched.

Biesel is a career special teamer, at best.

your right he is a special teamer, but not "at best".
he is a great special teamer.
and julian battle did play this year but they benched him, thats how bad he was.
he couldnt even play over these guys, ive seen enough of battle and bartee.
young guy and veteran. young guy can fight with mccleon for nickel, loser gets dime slot.
