Twins fan here. I love Span, you guys will love him too. He just did not fit our team as a 29 year old and im glad he is going to a contender now. He is a class dude and fun to watch. Hits for pretty good average, gets on base and one thing he does is as the leadoff guy he is GREAT at making the pitcher throw pitches and works the count. He doesnt strike out and he is a threat on the basepaths. He is also a great defensive center fielder. The only thing that he doesnt do that well is hit for power and that isnt a big deal from a leadoff hitter.
What do you guys know about Meyer? Looks like he is your #1 pitching prospect and a hard thrower. Maybe a future 2 or 3 starter?
From what I have read it looks like a good deal for both sides considering where our teams are at. _________________

I can't really say much of Meyer, I'm not really up on our farm.
With Span and assuming LaRoche leaves...
Span
Harper
Zim
Werth
Desmond
Espi
Morse
Ramos/Suzuki
as a Batting Order? Not having LaRoche does not make me happy. _________________

I read somewhere that if ALR doesn't come back (which it would appear) that Davey would want to move Harper to cleanup to distribute the lefty bats out.
Span - L
Werth - R
Zim - R
Harper - L
Morse - R
Desmond - R
Espi - S
Ramos/Suzuki - R
Pitcher
That's not too bad. _________________

Meh, completely different IMO
Still nothing on Laroche. I kind of want him to walk and put Morse at first.
Span (L) - CF
Werth (R) - LF
Zimmerman (R) - 3B
Morse (R) - 1B
Harper (L) - RF
Desmond (R) - SS
Espinosa (S) - 2B
Ramos/Suzuki (R) - C
Nice balanced line up. Depending on how he hits, Harper could hit cleanup and Morse could hit fifth. |

No one wants to give up the compensation. I expect he'll come back on a 2 year deal when all is said and done. _________________

Supposedly, the Nationals have a deal in place for Morse.
I don't like it. I think there's a much better chance of Morse coming close to his 2011 year than Laroche coming close to his 2012 season. |

Yeah I hate that. Frankly, if I were GM I'd have told ALR to take a hike after he failed to meet the Christmas deadline.
I don't think we'll get a ton of value for Morse in a trade, and I'm not sure ALR + Left Handed Reliever is better than just Michael Morse after you factor salaries and what not. _________________

Save Bernadina for the Nederlands, no Nats in the WBC. I think we dodged a bullet there. _________________

I'll miss you beast mode.
So, we gave up two picks for Soriano, but then pretty much replaced those players with Michael Morse. Settled the 1b spot for next year, completed our fix at closer, and set ourselves up to trade ALR next year and continue to rebuild our farm. _________________

Went to NatsFest today, was a pretty good time overall. Kinda cool to hear Rizzo and Lerner talk about the state of team, and got my pic taken with a few players. I also, did in fact see the unveiling of Taft _________________

Just read an article in Miami New Times about Gio Gonzalez among others being linked to a PED place in Miami. I'm sure someone will post the article in the main forum soon.
Kinda disconcerting _________________
