This could also mean the end to his career.

It's a similar injury and surgery that Daryl Johnston underwent, which resulted in Johnston having to retire.

Given the position that he plays and his age, I expect Richie Anderson to retire.

A great pro and a classy guy. Really sad to see him go out like this, if he does indeed retire.

ya know it's startin' to seem like every Cowboy that retires gets forced into retirement rather than choosing it, i.e Johnston, Irvin, Aikman, Woodson, now possibly Anderson.....i'd just once like to see someone retire from our team because they want to and not because they had to

Well it sucks but the NFL is a grueling sport that has injuries with Anderson looking into retirement would Barnes be the best safe bet at FB now? I mean I know it is still April but it should still be stated that we could use a quality blocking FB as Julius can run and catch out of the backfield.

Ya, Rocket's career also ended cause of that

Richie Anderson was never a FB in the sense of what a fullback is. Barnes was our fullback last year, and should be again this year.

Anderson was never a FB that would be a lead blocker for Julius, it was allways Barnes.

We just lose his versatility and his pass catching ability.

We need to get Jamar Martin back. That guy knew how to block. He was nothing shy of a cinderblock wall.

I know! but Parcells traded for Barnes, and Martin was there before Parcells arrived, and therefore, "not a Parcells guy"

Parcells needed to find a way to get Barnes to stay in the lineup, so he had to cut martin.

I was pissed.

what about bickerstaff? he is big and strong but i dont know about his cathing and blocking, my only problem on him is he has no experience at either rb or fb due to injuries. i think he could be an experiment.

He's an RB

Why are people so obsessed with switching the positions of players.

Barnes is a quality FB, why would you want to try to convert a Runningback to change positions. I don't get it.

I'll miss his leadership and occasional highlights.
