...

If none of the developmental guys on our roster turn out to be any good, we're screwed anyway.

I'd be against trading up for CJ since we'd have to move up to the #2 spot. We would have to give up every pick in this years draft and probably next year's 1st rounder in order to move up that far, and there is no way any single player is worth that much. There is no way in the world we could get the 2nd pick overall just by giving up a 1st, 3rd, and 4th this year and another 1st next year.

My trade was using the assumption he fell to 4.

We all know Georgia Tech has had AMAZING QBs during Johnson's tenure.

Production doesn't exist in a vacuum.

just because Georgia Tech doesn't have amazing quarterbacks doesn't mean you can discredit Jarrett's accomplishments with great quarterback.

Your same argument can also be made for Sydney Rice, as he at times carried the Gamecock's offense on his back.

Jarrett and Rice both have better value being that the Steelers might be able to select one of the two in round two and not have to trade the majority of this year's draft and some of next years to do so, and neither will make nowhere near CJ on their first contracts.

Just b/c he fell to 4, it doesnt mean any team will accept a trade that just simpley meets the NFL draft value chart sums. To pry him out of Grudens cold dead hands you'd have to pull off something similar to Ditka for Ricky Williams, or more. You'd bargain your future for that, and he wont slip to 4, NO WAY. 2 at the most. NFL teams dont trade just for the sake of trading, it rarely happens. They want to improve their team. So if you were Gruden, what would you except for the best prospect possibly ever that is also your biggest need? You wouldnt take it lightly.

Quoted for the truth.

Jarrett is closer to a glorified TE ( Keyshawn johnson, Mike Willaims) than a WR like Holmes or Rice.

Yeah, I guess I took for granted that your some of your posts have been harshly criticized and for that reason you seem to not leave any stone unturned.

sexy pick, but we know it will never happend.

as soon as someone mentions CJ, people are willing to throw out all common sense, just to get someone like him.
IMO Cj will never be as good as moss in his prime, you simply cant be better than grabbing jump balls 45 yards down the field in between two defenders. CJ may be able to do that, but I know moss can. We can get moss for much much less than CJ and moss would outproduce him for the next few years.
im not saying get moss, he has too many character issues that a young coach should not have to deal with.
What im saying is that our teams only weakness is depth, lineplay, and OLB. To get CJ you are essentially giving up two of our weaknesses instead of fixing them. We allknow our OGs need an overhaul, starting with our stud, and we have no depth at any position on the team except for safety IMO.

But I am a steelers fan, and if we got him i would be extatic.
itll never happen
