Okay, we all agree that Denver has great depth, and our primary concern is finding playmakers, right? Most likely, anybody we select in the 7th Round either won't make the team, or won't be of any consequence down the road anyway. Mike Shanahan likes to gamble, we all know that, so why not draft Jeff Samardzija the Wide Receiver from Notre Dame with the 7th Round pick? I know, I know he signed a baseball contract that prevents him from playing football simultaneously. What if he discovers his true love is football or he can't hit the corners of the plate? He may not be as big of a steal as Bo Jackson was in the 7th Round, but he'd still be a steal.

Personally, I would pick Samardzija in a heartbeat. How about you?

With it being Shanahan it wouldn't surprise me if it happened. the only problem I see with it is that the Broncos would only hold his rights until next years draft and I have ti figure that Samardzija would give pro baseball a try for at least a couple of seasons before he decides to call it quits.

Sorry to take the wind out of your sails Kev, But Al Davis and Oakland Raiders are really considering him with the #1 pick. Just think about it. Wink

Just Kidding,

His heart is in baseball and that's where he is going to say for at least three years IMO.
Also the Broncos would need to come up with more then $16.5 million in guaranteed money for 5 years because that's what he has with the Cubs.

With that said. I would do it.

Knowing Shanahan, it wouldn't surprise me to see him do something like that.

I don't think you are right. I bet the Lions swap first rounders with Oakland and take Jeff Samardzija #1 overall. Afterall, this is Matt Millen we are talking about.....

Thats not what he is saying, he is saying that maybe we should draft him in the 7th anyways so we have his rights, incase he want to come back to football, because he is 1st round talent.

I like the idea but I would rather go with a RB (scat-back) maybe Ramonce Taylor or Garret Wolfe, maybe have them doing KR's too
