Brian Leonard is a WCO fullback.

We don't use our FBs in the way Brian Leonard's skills need to be utilized.

This coming from a New Jersey native Rutgers' fan.

ditto

NFLN said this week (Mayock) "Im tired of people saying Leonard is a fullback. He'll get drafted in the 2nd round and be a feature back for some team"

Yeah right!!!!!!!!

Sorry Mike, you just lost another fan.

I agree. When I saw Brian Leonard, that's when I actually started paying more attention to the mock. Here's my take on it:

1. Like it. Not my favorite (Poz) but it'll suffice, especially if we get a 3rd by moving down.

2. Love it. I think he'll give us a whole new dimension. All these guys spewing garbage about how we use a FB (or in this case don't use a FB) aren't using their heads. NEW COACHES, NEW SCHEMES! Maybe the new coaches will actually have a brain on offense and know how to get creative other than the occasional trick play.

3a. Like the position, but not sold on the guy.

3b. Don't know him. But he's a LB, and a good sized one. Write-up on him makes him sound more like a 4th to 5th rounder though IMO.

4a. Love it. Switch him and 3b around and it's more realistic I think.

4b. Again don't know him. Not a position I'd waste a 4th rounder on. Should've went WR before now too. (Jason Hill maybe)

5a. LOVE it. Gotta have a good punter, and one that can catch guys about to break a PR for a TD is a nice asset to have.

5b. Don't really know him either, but decent size and speed, and the position is right.

6. Decent pick here. We should look into a backup QB, and I wouldn't waste anything prior to a 6th on a career backup.

7. Too small, but in the 7th, beggers can't be choosers.

Overall, pretty good. Spencer, Leonard, Bazuin, Podlesh and Palmer are all good picks. WR should've been addressed though, in 3rd or 4th, preferably with Jason Hill.

Our offense doesn't use the fullback.

It isn't designed for it.

And with more 4 WR sets, FB is not going to be big on our team.

Waste of a 2nd round pick.

Also not a good lead blocker (his primary role in our O)

How do you know what our offense will be, when the HC and OC are both brand new? Answer is, YOU DON'T!

He's an HB, not a FB too, that's what I project him as. He could be the backup RB and guy to get some carries to keep Fast Willie fresh. He could be our replacement for Verron's worthless butt on 3rd down. Could be goal-line. He could even be our RB in 4-wr sets, because he's a good receiver, and better blocker than Fast Willie. He makes so much sense with all his versatility it's unreal.

I can infer by looking at Arians history.

Leonard's game speed and agility is too slow to be an NFL RB.

Not strong enough inside to be goalline. Not big enough (only 226)

We're not going to put in Mr. slow man in 4 WR sets. Especially not over our 1500 yard back.

In a nutshell, you're wrong.

He could excel in a WCO.

We're not going west coast.

Friendly bet that we're not going WCO?

I will concede I could see him playing the Haynes role, but 2nd round is WAY too high to draft a 3rd string RB.

Brian Leanord is a solid Pick IMO, he will be gone by the 3rd.

Quote:
Samson Satele

Positives:

Effective pass-blocking lineman who shows ability in space. Plays with pad level, is quick with his hands and fundamentally sound. Stays square, keeps his feet moving on contact and makes effective use of angles and body positioning. Keeps his head on a swivel and helps out teammates.

Negatives:

Lacks the dominant base and average as a run-blocker. Does not show a lot of balance in his blocking.

At least he can Pass Block!

If we draft Leonard in the second there is a 99% chance that I will break into tears. There is no way he is a mid second rounder.

gatek, great mock. I like the Samson pick.....he will be pretty good at the NFL level. Leonard is good, and he would compliment Parker nicely. Unless Davenport shows something, we should take Leonard if he is available.

Way to many picks, IMO. Besides the first round there are better players available.

1. Go pick because you traded down to acquire him
2. Get Kalil here, more polished OC.
3. Package up you 3rd rounders and move for a better player.
4 Zak and Dan are this years Chris Gocong everybody wanted this guy last year. Special team guys, IMO. Not worth a fourth
4. Good pick don't know this guy but a second day pick need the depth
5. This punter will be availabe as a UDFA
5. Good CB, with good upside.
6. Just being C. Palmer brother will get him into the 4th round.
7. Don't know him, so if he's a 7th round pick not a problem
