Marvin has been quoted lately as saying that 17 of his picks in the last two years are staying on the roster, perhaps this is an allusion that trading up is more of a possiblity than trading down.
My proposal is that if Derrick Johnson is there when the Lions pick at #10, do we offer a trade up? Somehting like our 1st, 3rd, and next years 3rd for #10. Johnson is a stud and would thrive in teh Bengals D. Maybe move Simmons back to MLB, and have Derrick Johnson and Landon Johnson as our long term solution as the OLB's? I think that trading up is a big possiblity though. _________________

| I really don't think he will make it to #10, but I like the idea. I think if we stay where we are, we might consider Demarcus Ware as an OLB. I can't wait till draft day. |

| Lewis has never traded up and i don't see him doing it now. I would rather have to solid players than one good one though. (Look at what happened to Cleveland, they lost a second or something and then traded up to get whats his face and then he got injured. They ended up with nothing) Stay put and see what's there. There's plenty of quality where we are at. |

I still feel that this draft has too many similar players in it. I can't tell the difference between Dan Cody or David Pollack, etc. This is a deep draft but not a super strong at the top draft.
I think Derrick Johnson is one of the sure things in this draft. And yes, it would be nice to have him, Landon, and Simmons together. (Landon has been told he is the #1 MLB right now so there will be no switching Simmons back to the middle).
However, I think you can move backwards and pick up another 2nd or 3rd and get quality players at cheaper salary cap numbers.
There is room on this roster for more CBs and safeties (at least 3 DB spots). Room for another pass rusher. Backup LOT is open. Center is openor at least a backup is needed if Braham resigns. They might be able to free up a TE position if they draft Miller (and get a practice squad TE). They might want to use a kickoff specialist also. Could use a fast WR .
In other words, although they have drafted well under Marvin there are plenty of spots where they can improve their depth. As a result, I don't think it is necessary to consolidate picks for one good one.

DUKE, right on. If DJ is available at 10 to the Lions, MOVE UP!!!!
VOTE NO ON TRAVIS JOHNSON!!!
Having solid players is a Lewis mainstay but a superstar on defense will put this team over the top. We already have plenty of solid players. We need a superstar! _________________
