Don't know if everyone saw this, but the Packer's signed Jim Bates starting Free Safety last year. While this guy isn't going to make the Pro Bowl anytime soon, he is a solid starter, and what he provides the Packer's with is options.
Freeman, Roman, and whoever the Packers draft (Poole, Davis, or Shazor) will compete for two positions. I like this for the reasons I stated it is rare for a rookie to play well at Safety. It can be done, but just in case it doesn't work out this year, they now have insurance.
So now that that is done, let's sign Jamie Sharper!
Probably won't happen. |

ahhh this is great. Freeman may not be an Ed Reed or Sean Taylor, yet, type of safety who is going to be a game buster but his experience and talent will certainly help a very much struggling defense.
he also already knows the defense and will not have to go through that learning curve that the others are now experiencing. this is a great signing and i'm stoked that we finally signed a safety.
he picked off the likes of matt hasselbeck, Tom ( everyone thinks is god )Brady, and Kurt warner last. those are some decent QB's. i say he has at least 4 next year. check out his stats they aren't spectacular but there's hope there

Not even close to the next Roman. He'll work within the system.
Same article says the Pack is brining in Odell Thurman for a pre-draft. |

| my biggest concern is that he replaced antuan edwards when he got cut by the 'phins, not sure if that was an lnjury thing for freeman or what but nonetheless it concerns me that he wasn't originally the starter last year |

| Browner, Shazor, Bullocks could all be avail in the 2nd round. You have a guy that doesn't need to start from Square 1 now at S, so you get your DE or LB pick first, then get your next safety. |
