Howdy folks, and welcome to the battle for Eagles’ front office knowledge supremacy! In this contest, everyone will make the decisions based on what they believe the Eagles’ front office will attempt and accomplish. Below are scenarios that everyone will choose what they predict will happen. Afterwards, the poster who correctly chooses the most scenarios wins a special prize! The deadline has passed. No more entries will be accepted. Good luck to all!

NOTE: The numbers below represent the responses from all 26 entries. The numbers are percentages. The answers following in italics are my wife's answers. Remember, she is acting as the control. She has absolutely no football knowledge of this sort.

Part I – Roster Cuts
For the following players, choose either yes (they will be cut) or no (they will not be cut). Player retirements count as a no answer.
1. Mike Bartrum (TE/LS) [Yes=7.69%, No=92.31%] Yes
2. Jon Dorenbos (C/LS) [Yes=23.08%, No=76.92%] No

(a) The Eagles will attempt to re-sign, and succeed.

NOTE: Players re-signed are not required to make the squad to count as a re-signee.

2. Correll Buckhalter (RB) [A=61.54%, B=26.92%, C=11.54%] A

Question: Say we think a guy will be signed, or re-signed, or drafted, but will not make the 53 man roster (e.g. Ed Jasper last year). That still counts as him being signed/re-signed/drafted, right?

Also, what about UDFAs? Do they count the same as regular UFAs?

I was thinking about the first question last night. If a player is signed or re-signed, regardless of him making the final cuts it counts as a signing. Ed Jasper and Jabar Gaffney of last year would have qualified for this contest.

I won't count UDFAs because I think that gets excessive and isn't in the spirit of the contest. It simply makes some of the questions too easy. Good questions. I'll add these clarifications to the instructions.

In the spirit of fair play, I think I should make one additional rule:

If before the deadline one of the questions should be answered, then anyone who makes a subsequent submission for the contest cannot get that question correct. However, all posters who did make a submission before the question was answered, and correctly predicted its occurance, will get credit for a correct response.

For example, on 16 February, the Eagles announce that they signed Randall Cunningham to play QB. That would answer the question 3. The Eagles will sign a free agent quarterback as 'YES'. Anyone who made a submission and answered 'YES' gets credit for a correct response. Anyone who made a submission and answered 'NO' is incorrect, and ANYONE who makes a submission following that announcement is automatically incorrect for that answer.

This is to be fair to those who promptly got their submissions to me. If that sounds confusing to anyone (I don't always write things as clearly as they can be), feel free to shoot me a PM. Thanks all.

Hey just for the head up you may have made a mistake or maybe I'm just not understanding it but why would signing Randall Cunningham to play QB answer the question of signing a RB?

Wow, I thought some of the older posters had more guts than this. I thought that their pride wouldn't allow anyone else to have something that officially proclaims them - on behalf of Phreak and myself - the most knowledgeable poster here. I guess I was just flat out wrong. It's kind of disappointing.

I might do one as soon as I get around to it. It is a lot of pure guessing and luck so anyone could really win. You don't need a lot of football knowledge or know the Eagles all that well.

While all prediction contests are essentially guess-work, I disagree that one doesn't need to know the Eagles all that well. The best guesses with this contest result from knowing the Eagles' patterns.

I'll tell you what; I'll have my wife enter the contest. She knows absolutely nothing about football (she roots for the team with the "pretty gold pants" and for the clock to expire as quickly as possible). If she beats half of the people who enter, then we'll know for sure that it is all pure guessing and I won't bother doing another contest like this again. Wink
