|
|
I know the team order isn't exactly right in later rounds due to changes, but it is close enough for a mock.
Mock 1.0
1. Raiders - Brady Quinn - QB - Notre Dame
If Greg Knapp ends up being the Raiders offensive coordinator, you can forget Russell here. Knapp runs a WCO. Not only is Quinn a better fit for a WCO, but Russell would be a bust as a wCO QB.
2. Lions - Joe Thomas - OT - Wisconsin
Sometimes even dumb teams make the right move. Martz has always prided himself on taking later round QBs and making them stars, so they solidify their OL.
3. Buccaneers - Amboi Okoye - DT - Lousiville
Rumor has Gruden's staff falling in love with Okoye at the Senior Bowl the way they did Caddy before. At 19 he is out playing every other tackle. Lord knows how good he'll be when he finally grows up.
4. Browns - Alan Branch - DT
Browns take an anchor for their defense.
5. Cardinals - Reggie Nelson - S - Florida
The Cards don't need a WR or QB. They surprise everyone by taking a ballhawk safety.
6. Redskins - Calvin Johnson - WR - Georgia Tech
They might have bigger needs, but sometimes you just have to take the best player on the board. A great playmaker to go with their young QB.
7. Vikings - JaMarcus Russell - QB - LSU
I know they drafted a QB they like, but they need something to bring some excitement (and fans) back. Drafting a guy that can be marketed as the next Cullpepper fits the bill.
8. Texans - Adrian Peterson - RB - Oklahoma
Passing on Bush, then Peterson would cause fans to riot. They make the smart move and draft AP.
9. Dolphins - Gaines Adams - DE - Clemson
Hard to beleive he has lasted this long, but the truth is this draft is deep at DE, so the teams at the very top don't feel pushed to take one early. Adams is clearly the BPA here.
10. Falcons - Levi Brown - OT - Penn St.
The Falcons' big needs are OT, S, and DE. (Hell will freeze over before they take a WR at this ten spot.) Nodody left on the board is jumping out as a sure fire dominant player. With the draft deep at S and DE, they go for the best OT on the board. Given that they are switching from a lightweight Denver o-line to a heavyweight Philly type o-line (which none of the current players fit), this seems the best move here.
11. 49ers - Jamaal Anderson - DE - Arkansas
Could go WR here also, but age and lack of depth make Anderson a better pick.
12. Bills - Darrelle Revis - CB - Pitt
All the CBs in this draft have some flaw in their play. Revis will establish himself as the top CB in the draft with a great combine.
13. Rams - Dwayne Jarrett - WR - USC
The Rams should be looking D here, but Jarrett may be too good a value to pass up at this point.
14. Panthers - Laron Landry - S - LSU
A couple of ways they could go, but Landry seems a safe pick at a needed position.
15. Steelers - Marshawn Lynch - RB - Cal
Not a big need, but sometimes you have to go with BPA.
16. Packers - Leon Hall - CB - Michigan
The Packers are sick over losing Lynch by one pick. They instead take the best CB still on the board.
17. Jaguars - Quentin Moses - DE - Georgia
18. Bengals - Justin Blaylock - OG - Texas
Not a jazzy pick, but fills a need and protects the franchise QB.
19. Titans - Ted Ginn - WR - Ohio St
Maybe not the smart pick for the Titans, but when you have a hot young QB, the urge to surround him with weapons is almost irresistable.
20. Giants - Sidney Rice - WR - South Carolina
While they could go several directions here, they really don't have much behind Burress. The urge to get more weapons for a young QB strikes again.
21. Broncos - Tank Tyler - DT - NC St.
The Browns couldn't last forever.
22. Cowboys - Daymeion Hughes - CB - Cal
Hard to predict how the Cowboys will go with a new coaching staff. Hughes is the highest rated player on the board at the moment.
23. Chiefs - Quinn Pitcock - DT - Ohio St.
The Chiefs reach for a need here, feeling he will have more impact that taking the BPA at a position where they have some depth.
24. Patriots - Patrick Willis - ILB - Mississippi
Willis has been tearing it up at the Senior Bowl and shoting up the charts. A great value pick at a need position.
25. Jets - Kenny Irons - RB - Auburn
Questions remain about Irons, but he looks to be a nice fit with the Jets.
26 Eagles - Paul Posluszny - OLB - Penn St
The Eagles go for the value pick here. Another boring, but solid Ealges pick.
27. Saints - Marcus McCauley - CB - Fresno St.
McCauley is going to wow people at the combine with his stats, luring someone to take him early. His on field play has not been as good, but his upside is too good for the Saints to ignore.
28. Patriots - Dwayne Bowe - WR - LSU
Bowe has worked himself into the 1st round, and is a great value and fit for the Pats here.
29. Ravens - Zach Miller - TE - Arizona St.
The Ravens lost in the playoffs because they couldn't score points. Miller is more a TE/WR hybird and gives them more options for 2 TE sets that can be used in passing situations. Yes I know they have Heap, but Miller will add flexibility to their passing game.
30. Chargers - Robert Meachem - WR - Tenn
What do you get a team that seems to have everything?
31. Colts - Adam Carriker - DE - Nebraska
At 290 Carriker would be bigger that some of the Colts DTs. Gives them a physical presence on the d-line they have been lacking.
32. Bears - Brandon Meriweather - S - Miami
It is tempting to give the Bears a QB, bu I didn't. Meriweather is a much better safety than this, but he drops becuase of character concerns. Chicago seems to feel the can handle people with some character problems, and takes a chance on Meriweather.
Round 2
1. Raiders - Lamarr Woodley - DE - Michigan
2. Lions - Charles Johnson - DE - Georgia
3. Browns - Rufus Alexander - OLB - Oklahoma
4. Buccaneers - Jarvis Moss - DE - Florida
5. Cardinals - Fred Bennett - CB - South Carolina
6. Redskins - Baraka Atkins - DE - Miami
7. Vikings - Michael Griffin - S - Texas
8. Texans - Doug Free - OT - Nothern Ill.
9. Dolphins - Aaron Rouse - S - Va Tech
10. Falcons - Michael Bush - RB - Lousiville
11. 49ers - CJ Gaddis - CB - Clemson
12. Bills - Brandon Mebane - DT - Cal
13. Rams - Victor Abiamiri - DE - Notre Dame
14. Panthers - Earl Everet - OLB - Florida
15. Steelers - Chris Houston - CB - Arkansas
16. Packers - Antonio Pittman - RB - Ohio St.

25. Jets - Ryan Smith - CB - Florida
26. Eagles - Jon Beason - OLB - Florida
27. Saints - Aaron Sears - OT - Tenn
28. Patriots - Prescott Burgess - OLB - Michigan
29. Ravens - Troy Smith - QB - Ohio St.
30. Chargers - HB Blades - ILB - Pitt
31. Colts - Kareem Brown - DT - Miami
32. Bears - Justin Harrell - DT - Tenn
Round 3
1. Raiders - Jacoby Jones - WR - Lane
2. Lions - Jay Alford - DT - Penn St.
3. Buccaneers - Rhema McKnight - WR - Notre Dame
4. Browns - Brian Leonard - FB/RB - Rutgers
5. Cardinals - Tony Hunt - RB - Penn St.

8. Texans - Tom Zbikowski - S - Notre Dame

I dont really want to be mean, but that is one of the worst mocks. If they wanted Okoye that bad, they would trade down. DT is not a Browns need. Cards have Adrian Wilson. Skins a WR? The Vikings like the QB they have in Tavaries Jackson. Gaines Adams is not a 3-4 OLB. Steelers have Parker, they need a big back if anything. Giants have so many more needs. Irons is a bad fit for the Jets. |

4. Browns - Alan Branch - DT
Good pick, but not at #4, Calvin and AP are still on the board.
3. Browns - Rufus Alexander - OLB - Oklahoma
Loveeeee the way Rufus can play, but OLB is not a need in the first day, only way I think we would take him is if we get an extra 2nd pick. Give us Michael Bush in the 2nd. No AP in the 1st = Michael Bush in the second
10. Falcons - Michael Bush - RB - Lousiville
4. Browns - Brian Leonard - FB/RB - Rutgers
FB is not a need at all, and as for the RB aspect of his game thats why we also have Vickers, who can do the tough goaline running. Give us the mauling OG Manuel Ramierez here.
23. Chiefs - Manuel Rameirez - OG - Texas Tech
3. Browns - Andrew Carnahan - OT - Arizona St.
Don't know much about Carnahan, but Anthony Spencer is a very interesting prospect for OLB if he is still there in the 3rd. But I wouldnt mind seeing a DL prospect here either.
5. Cardinals - Anthony Spenser - DE - Purdue

Pitiful Saints draft. Interesting scenario but you show a bias toward some teams and away from others. I cannot see the Jets taking Irons in the first round; he might go in the second late.
McCauley will fall to the third round due to character concerns. You know nothing about the Coach of the Year Payton who avoids such players.
Do some more research. This mock is in need of help. |

if we skip OT in the firt we are taking one in the second
we have edge, we don't need a RB _________________

by far worst mock browns mock i have ever seen
we already have 2 good fbs, (including the "best one" according to kiper, from last years draft) and t.smith who has blocked for 4 different 1,000 yard rbs
nt in top 5? nope
no olinemen on first day?? and besides ur nt in top 5 (lmao) that wont happen, no dlinemen
lmao browns will take peterson/JaMarcus/ or thomas or trade down and get peterson or lynch
another olb? hahaha we took 2 lbs in top 35 picks last year, including the rookie who had 11 sacks, 62 tackles [better rookie year then s.merimem (sp is off) who had jamal williams and castillo (spelling) in front of him
ahha... and rookie leon williams (another lb taken last year) played 3 games and had over 30 tackles,1 sack,1ff,1 pass defend
try again.much harder |

Terrible Jets mock, no way would they pass on Woodley, Carriker, Moss or Johnson for Irons. Also the Jets have the redskins second round pick.
Keep trying. _________________

Great Chargers draft. One question where does Deljuan Robinson fit on the 3-4? I haven't had time to look over some of the 2nd day spects. |

Even though he isn't a top need I'll give you Rice as we could use another WR. In the second give us Aaron Ross, 3rd give us Lawrence Timmons who you have going in the 4rth and in the 4rth give us Lorenzo Booker. That would make for a great draft. |

Although I think this draft as a whole needs work, I would LOVE this packers draft...
Hall in the first round won't happen because we'd take Ginn jr instead because we need a playmaker on offense rather than a corner, but in saying that Leon hall is a GREAT corner and to grab him in the first round wouldn't be my top choice but it wouldn't be bad.
Pittman in the second is good. I like the guy and I think Marshawn Lynch will be gone by the time the Packers pick (Cleveland browns select AP at #3 and Houston selects ML at #8, and the Steelers DO NOT need a runnign back and will not take one in the first round). I very much like Pittman though, good job.
Hill in the third round is good too. I like the guy. This pick makes up for not drafting Ginn Jr. in the first.
Timmons will never drop that low, and the Packers don't need a LB, but if we have a 4th round pick and he is available (which will never happen) Iwould be elated to get Timmons.
Overall, nice job at looking at at least the Packers team needs. I would be happy with this draft |

I like Detroit’s picks for the most part. I’m just don’t think DT is the right pick in the third. Even if we lose, Corey Redding in free agency Shaun Cody has shown he can play. Cornerback or guard would be better picks unless you really like Jay Alford. |
