I was thinking about this because I've always thought that Terrence Cody would be a great 4-3 nose guard, but everybody is telling me that he is strictly a 3-4 NT. So my question to FF is, "Who are the top 5 4-3 NGs in the 2010 class? Thanks for the input.

Funny that you posted this. The more I try to pick apart the 3-4 nt's, the more I am convinced that Dan Williams would be a much better fit at nose in a 4-3. After him I'll go Linval Joseph, Terrence Cody, Cam Thomas, Torrell Troup. Prefer Cody in 3-4 though.

1. Dan Williams (not better than suh as an overall prospect but better as a 4-3 NT imo
2. Ndamukong Suh
3. Cam Thomas
4. Gerald McCoy will play as a 4-3 UT the best, but he's still talented enough to play NT in a 4-3 if he put on an easy 10 pounds or so
5. doesn't matter

Man, it's been a while since I've heard the term "nose guard".

1. Ndamukong Suh
2. Dan Williams
3. Torrell Troup
4. Mount Fatty
5. Cam Thomas

...and no, I don't like McCoy at all as a nose guard.

Yeah, I'm surprised to see McCoy's name on these lists. He's pretty tall and kind of lean to play NG. I don't think he'd be able to get the leverage to eat up blockers, so the backers can shoot the gaps and make the plays. I know he is incredibly gifted, but I think he's limited to the 3-technique.

Torrell Troup
Dan Williams
Mount Cody
Cam Thomas
Linval Joesph (tweener NT/UT)

Both Suh and Mccoy would be UT in a 4-3 scheme .

You can't really they both need similar skill sets. Absorb mulitple blockers is the main criteria for both. But a 4-3 NG/NT needs to be able to collapse the pocket as well at least in the perfect world. Panthers just let go of Kemo and he played at 3-4 NT before coming to the panthers to play that spot on a 4-3.
