Do the current CBA restrictions prevent the Vikings from signing away other teams' RFAs? _________________

I believe only if the Vikings decide not to match a RFA that they have tendered, then they can sign one of equal value, otherwise, yes, they are limited from signing RFA's. _________________ Gnat's Movie Reviews

That is a shame, considering the Ravens only tendered Jared Gaither to a 1st round level. _________________

| Next week I will be a permanent resident of Minot ND for a year or two at least. No more waking up at 2 or 3 am to watch the games. It'll a noon game time for this guy. |

Only a hundred miles north of me-I'll have to drive up next season and we can sit in a tavern and drink a few while watching the Vikes dominate. Welcome home! _________________ "No one can disguise mediocrity better than Bill Belichick." |

No, the final eight plan only applies to unrestricted free agents.
This means that RFA's and trades are fair game. The only exception being that a final eight team can't trade for someone who would have been an unrestricted free agent. For example, we can't have the Titans sign Peppers and then trade picks to the Titans for him.
Here is a copy of the CBA:
http://images.nflplayers.com/mediaResources/files/PDFs/General/NFL%20COLLECTIVE%20BARGAINING%20AGREEMENT%202006%20-%202012.pdf
The details of the final eight plan are on page 77. Here are some applicable exerpts from article XXI (final eight plan):
Section 7
| Quote: | | Trade Limitation: No Club subject to the provisions of this Article may, for one League Year, trade for a player it otherwise would not be permitted to sign as an Unrestricted Free Agent as a result of the provisions in this Article. |
Section 2
| Quote: | | Top Four Teams: Each of the four Clubs that participated in the NFC and AFC Championship games the Prior League Year shall not be permitted to negotiate and sign any Unrestricted Free Agent to a Player Contract, except: (a) any Unrestricted Free Agent who acquired that status as a result of the NFL waiver system; (b) any Unrestricted Free Agent who was under contract to such Club on the last date of the last League Year of the player’s most recent Player Contract; and (c) any Unrestricted Free Agent signed pursuant to Section 4 below. |
Section 4 is the rule that one unrestricted free agent can be signed by a final eight team for each unrestricted free agent that team has lost...
"so long as the Player Contract for the New Player shall have a first year Salary of no more than the first year Salary of the Player Contract signed by the Previous Player with the New Club, and an annual increase in any future contract years of no more than 30% of the first contract year Salary, excluding any amounts attributable to any signing bonus."
Unrestricted free agents are the only type that the final eight teams are prohibited from signing. Hopefully I cleared up some other CBA questions as well. _________________

Am I the only misfit Minnesota fan?
I'm from NY, and I live in New Orleans. Ive been a fan since I was a little girl. I get dogged all the time for being a Minnesota fan, and I always feel like an outsider on forums like this cause I've never even been to Minnesota. BOO. |

Any Wild fans on the board?
What do you think of the moves that Fletcher has made this year? Points wise we are at about the same level as we were this time last year. However, I find this brand of Hockey much more entertaining to watch and think the new up tempo system fits the majority of our players much better. _________________
