yes, the patriots have sort of redefined how to play the game.

sort of like how the 49's did in the 80's.

jam the reciever hell yeah, i forgot about that i would always get mad because the coaches seem to prefer our cb's line up 15 yrds. off the line i mean you cant even see them on the tv screen sometimes..(quick throw to the wide-out for 7 yards happened every time).

That wont happen this year, Smoot and Winfeild dont fit that type of mold, the deep cover one that is. And yeah, it got annoying.

i agree. i think our corners and safeties are going to downright aggressive with steam coming out of their ears. they probably realize they could set some records as a unit.

They need to be agressive. We dont have many great receivers in the divsion, the packers have some, but there prodcution will go down with Farve's security personel departing. But, every guy in the division can burn you if you give them 15 yards. Pretty much anyone in the nfl can. Its nice to be safe, but its great to win.

I think with all these new QUALITY veteran players, that you'll see a lot more creativity on the defensive side of the ball.

Also, for the guys that remained starters from last year, this is their second year in the scheme (they've had so many different D coordinators over the past few years) and production should rise with having a second year in the same system.

With a solid defensive backfield, an improved D-line (second year now for Udeze, and a solid improvement at NT with Pat Williams) and quickly improving LB corps, I cant see how they wont be able to do far more on defense.

Honestly, if the Vikings arent a top 5 defense this season, I'll be disappointed.

I will too, I mean we will have to be atleast top 10, but if we are not top 5, the moss deal will hurt again.

i think it's obvious they're defense is going to be aggressive, smart, team-oriented, opportunistic, and hopefully creative. which i think they will, now that they have more than basic personnel.

cottrell has run creative if not exotic defenses and i personally feel those are the best in the nfl.

so all in all i hope cotrell has a monster season makes all the right calls and supplants mike tice as the vikings head coach completeing the transfer of an offesive minded team to a defensive ball control style...

well then again maybe not cotrell but definately someone like dungy...i really do not care much for tice and some of his decisions.
