I've heard that Sharper is probably going to get cut, but I don't believe that the Vikings will pursue him. If they wanted to get a new middle LB, it would be Edge Hartwell.

Hartwell isn't getting many teams interested in him. I think that he was made better by playing in the Baltimore D and his asking price is probably considerably higher then Sharper's would be. Is he the brother of Darren Sharper? That could be a draw if he is.

Sharper did pretty darn good down in Houston... if they brought him in as MLB and had EJ and Harris on the outsides, that REALLY give some experience at the LB core... Sharper is probably one of the better MLBs in the game (not THE best, but probably top 10)
I'd still prefer DJ over Mike Williams.
DJ will be a BEAST for the 6-7 years they have him signed from the first contract... all I know is the guy could play safety with how fast he is... at OLB for the Vikings he'd be a real playmaker
but if the Vikings took Sharper I wouldnt be displeased, the guy is a good MLB.
And as far as I know there is no relation between the Sharpers. _________________

The two Sharpers are brothers. Jamie is a year older. What a defense we would have with those two. I think if Jamie gets realesed Darren could get him to sign with us.

Sharper would be a great short term solution while EJ learns the position better. MLB is a difficult position to master - its the QB of the defense.
Sharper is 30 now - will turn 31 in the middle of next season. Seems like he could come in and give us two good seasons while we groom EJ. Its pretty obvious to me that EJ is still learning the position - he was out of position constantly last season. Let's pull the trigger.
Regarding Hartwell, I've heard from numerous sources that he isn't valued very highly by NFL scouts. He is seen as an average player who overachieved because of the presence of RL and ER. |

I wouldn't trade a box of used footballs for him. He is over the hill, and the only reason he made so many tackles the last few years is the Texans offense sucked before this year. I would rather see us draft CHanning Crowder at 18. We don't need another Greg Biekert.
